Lea Zametta - Application for Royalty, Special Feature & Special Weapon
Posted by: Grimmnaka - 05-02-2021, 05:59 PM - Forum: Approved Characters - Replies (2)

Applicable BYOND Key - Grimmnaka

Character Name - Lea Zametta

Request Type - Royalty, Special Weapon, and Character Feature

Request Details -  I wanted to Give Lea's Royalty, and connection to Hyatts bloodline via a branch family, diluted but still connected, her right arm showcasing that connection by being entirely scaled form the shoulder to the fingers, and her fingernails being dragon claws. Finally have her wield a family heirloom weapon passed down through generations.

Zametta Family - The Zametta Family is a branch family only half blood disjointed from the direct decendents of Hyatt himself, formed during the first attempt at purging vampires, they had a familial combining with the mercalean church in order to create a more anti vampire decendents of hyattr more suited to fighting them. While in recent years they have slowed their fight against them their name is still well known.

Special Appearence: Due to her being the more pure, and close blood wise to the original hyatt bloodline, her right arm is entirely scaled from shoulder to the fingertips in red scales, Her fingernails are replaced with Dragon claws. While it remains human in shape except for those changes.

Special Weapon: Ash Maker - This is a reflavored Salamander Sword, that was said to be forged in the blood of nairyf, her family and those of direct hyatt bloodline were the only ones capable of wielding it due to the immense heat it gives off. AS its name sake was given, it was make to combat the vampire menace with its intense heat capable of ashing vampires to prevent their ressurecting capabilities upon defeat. It uses Fire magic to raise its own power giving it the capability to reach the heat of Nairyfs blood. However only the original wielder has been able to wield it at full strength and through the generations its no longer known if it could even truely Ash vampires like it was said to. Even Lea can currently only wield it at 25% however she is making progress.

Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) - It doesnt seem like we have a large selection of royalty, and I figured if I wanted to play royalty I wanted to go all out and make a indepth lore inspired character.

Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - Well since many races seemed to be involved in the many plights against vampires, I figured such an old and existing family would have gained such prestige overtime, and I don't see really any Hyattr vampire hunters despite having abilities well suited for it. While Each Well legend like hyatt has been noted to have a bloodline, I figured a half diluted one as a branch vampire dedicated to vampire eradication would be an interesting concept. I know that weapons in lore can always be created to serve a purpose throughout the history of sigrogana so I thought a Flame blade for vampires would be a good thought as well, as for the character trait, I like the idea that her hyatt dna surfaced and had more prominence garnering a trait not generally seen

  Chatbox Quality
Posted by: MakeshiftWalrus - 05-02-2021, 12:18 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (5)

It's no secret that many of us are longing for a better level of quality of life when it comes to our ability to role-play in the game. We've gotten many visual, and performance upgrades to the chat, and the way we write in the form of the RP bubble utility, and the wonderful new UI.

But we also still lack many of what most would call basic features, and likewise are there things which are currently very annoying to work with. This thread's purpose is to draw attention to which areas can improve, and why. From my own perspective, at least.

The Console Bar:

We've had this ever since the game launched, as far as I'm aware. Unfortunately, it's been showing its age for a long, long time now. Let's go over the bullet points:

Pros:
- Very simple to use.
- Since everything in the game is a verb, can be used to do a ton of helpful shenanigans.
- All the role-play utilities are compacted along it, giving easy access.

Cons:
- If this is your sole method of writing, big posts are suffering because you can't navigate it with your arrow keys. Your character will move around if you try, forcing you to navigate with the mouse instead by dragging along your text. This is especially annoying if you're scrolled all the way to the right from what you've written, and want to double-check for errors.
- To my knowledge, the buttons that automatically add the various commands to the console bar are never used by anyone. To me, it's a giant hassle because I swap between emotes, says, whispers, and looc almost every post I do.
- No spell-checker.

Solutions / Suggestions:
- Ideally I would want the console bar to be a toggle in the settings menu, and for it to be replaced entirely by a bar purely meant for role-play in some fashion.
- The buttons should all be changed to pop out the respective writing-boxes we get from merely typing in the command, instead of dropping the respective command in the bar.
- Potentially, a spell-checker based on IE's browser-settings could be made.

The Writing Box:

It's strangely under-utilized. Probably because it's a little janky to bring out in the first place, but it does its purpose very well despite how plain it looks.

Pros:
- Offers a simple, and easy way to write without hassling you with anything you don't need.
- Mercifully allows you to navigate using the arrow-keys, compared to the console bar.
- It does exactly what you would need it to do, and nothing more.

Cons:
- No way to know it exists other than being told, or discovering it by accident, as it doesn't appear unless you hit one of the prompts into the console bar without additional text.
- It does exactly what you would need it to do, and nothing more.
- No spell-checker.

Solutions / Suggestions:
- It would be nice to have integrated buttons for bold, and italics in this menu, as since those were added, they've been extensively used.
- Once more, a spell-checker would be nice. In this box more than any other.
- Though it isn't necessary, a neat UI update for it would be nice.

General Writing Hijinks:

There's a lot of small things that add up to a bigger evil here, some of which will be repeated here from previous threads:

Bold / Italics:

Currently, we use ` if we want to use any italics on our text. As one might expect, this is really annoying, because it creates accents on most vowels, meaning you have to actively account for it when you write, and this can lead to multiple attempts of getting it right if you're a big dumb-dumb like me. For bold, we use **, which is slowly getting more standardized everywhere likely due to Discord's influence.

My proposal here is to change the ` into a single * so we don't have to groan èvery` time we fail to write out a slanted word.

Paragraphs:

It's currently impossible to do line breaks in the game, and trying makes it look like this:

It'd be nice to get the ability to break our posts into paragraphs, because some people like to wall, and it just gets super muddled really quickly.

Font & Size:

As seen above, text can be quite big in the new UI. It'd be nice to have a few variations in the options for font, and the ability to make the text itself a little bigger, or smaller would help those of us lacking in screen-space, or are poor of sight.

Additionally, it'd be cool if we could get coloured text between our "", a bit like this:

Admittedly a sloppy photoshop example isn't the best, but it gets the point across.

All these are just a few suggestions I've had in mind, or were brought up in the past. I'd like to hear what everyone thinks, even if they don't agree. Criticism is well-encouraged.

  Inventory lockup v.2.44
Posted by: Moku203 - 05-01-2021, 04:25 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

In regards to the new inventory system, I noticed if you attempt to eat a food and are "Too full to eat anything else" it will lock up your controls, movement ceases to work, but Shift+WASD still causes you to spin around.

How to recreate:

Buy two foods.
Eat one.
Attempt to eat the other.
Enjoy only spinning until relogging.

This now happens when you look into a fight happening inside a Camp and then stop. Either that, or it's what happens when an Eventmin forcefully stops combat.

The result is owmyeyes.

Random horse in encounter at jammer cave? 2.43
Posted by: Mikuel - 04-30-2021, 09:19 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

Sooo... I went to mine for a bit, got random encounter, there was that horse carriage top right. Didn't happen again, didn't remember to check if I could interact it before my mercs killed the jammer.

The red tint is from my screen filter, don't worry about it.

Update: Found more in camp of someone named "Tyrant". Fully background objects.

[v2.43] Shael is lost forever (Quest Book bug)
Posted by: TheCommonNoob - 04-30-2021, 07:17 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (3)

Despite completing and having the quest being counted as completed, after a relog, the quest shows up in the finished quests section but counted as incomplete. The stamp was also taken away and there is no way to re-complete the quest as Shael's dialogue acts as if you've already done their quest.

For comparison, Jammer Slaying 101 is complete and functioning normally.

Let me bite you real quick
Posted by: Senna - 04-30-2021, 02:46 AM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (4)

I can't believe I'm making a thread like this...Well damn.
As much as I hate to say it, after actually testing a vampire that ISN'T fastens on the test server, I learned that vampires are quite bad. Why is that? Comparing the other races, they struggle to even use their own racial without facing many struggles.

As they are now, they're just humans lite.

In this game current era? Damage is quite high. It's a death wish to end your turn literally right next to your foe unless you're running Narcus. This applies in both PVE AND PvP...Which is really bad.

You know you're down bad when PvE is kicking your ass too...

So, what's the problem with vampires? Their kit is somewhat lackluster and struggles to synergize with each other. To use their passive, they have to put themselves in danger and due to banquet changes (It doesn't help if the person is a mage or any other class that isn't a duelist), individuals NEEDS to be stacking hit to even land a bite if their target isn't a tank.

Vampires suffer three problems.
  • The lack of options to constantly gain more essence.
  • The racial being quite hard to activate without the risk of taking a large amount of damage as well as how easy it is to run out.
  • The racial either doesn't do enough or uses too much essence to operate.

Suggestions?

Allowing vampiric effects/Life steal/FP stealing effects to restore essences based on healing/Stealing. This effect doubles with Life drain. If they have the fasten trait, this effect is negated. Allowing some effect that lets Banquet easier for people that aren't duelist to use. (Or just make it a autohit)

Two traits

Full-fledged vampire: Sanguine Crest will always be active however they get +10%(?) more holy damage. In the nighttime, essence usage is cut in half. (Needs 30 san)

Energized Vampire: If Sanguine Crest is active and the vampire has full essence, if they try to use Life drain or Banquet again, it grants a status called Blood Rush which lasts for 3-5 rounds. This doubles the effect for Sanguine Crest and dismisses the essence drain for Lunar Lunatism during its duration. (Needs 30 san)

Fasten

I would suggest allowing Graymist's healing to be player level x2 considering how little it's healing already...As well as other racial that is in the game that heals similar to the suggested for a lesser cool down.

One trait

Blood Reminder: When Greymist was used, they gained a status called Blood reminder. The fasten vampire, for 3-5 turns gains access to Lunar Lunatism. Instead of San, it will scale with half character's level. The drawback? If Lunar Lunatism was used, the vampire gains a temporary holy weakness that's half effective. (Requires Fasten)

Of course, these suggestions/Balancing suggestions won't exactly make vampires top tier but instead, allow them to work hand in hand with their kit a bit better...ESPECIALLY vampires that build SAN that isn't duelist.

  [v2.43] Forgrint's bapping
Posted by: Snake - 04-30-2021, 02:37 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Similar to this thread here https://neus-projects.net/forums/showthr...p?tid=7798 it seems that Fallenharn, the potential skill from Forgrint, is not using the weapon's Scaled Weapon Attack when in the tome's Spear mode.

You can notice the massive damage difference between each mode's uses of Fallenharn.

Weapon Shift (Forgrint) OFF (Tome Mode)

  (v2.43) Homunculi vs Food
Posted by: Snake - 04-29-2021, 03:42 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (2)

Food Regeneration doesn't seem to be fully healing Homunculi by a single digit.

Post-Combat Food HP Regeneration becomes zero when the number is too small to be recovered, often leaving you in situations where your health ends like for example, 499/500 HP out of combat after fight ends, quite consistently. I think the code for food regeneration is something like (FoodRegen% - Max HP), and that math's result being affected by Homunculus Physiology, which is leaving some decimals that get rounded down. It's made to look good and less spammy, but it's affecting the mud people somewhat.

Best way to replicate: Have a Homunculi fight in dungeons for a bit, you'll see that you will never be able to recover your HP to 100% outside of hour ticks or Inn. Also when relogging this will happen too for some reason.

I think the best solution for this is just making their Physiology not apply to food HP regen in general.
