  Life Drain effects

Currently Life Drain effects are extremely cheesy and can be used to bypass certain barriers or hurdles to a fight such as immortality/black barrier/last chance, all of this could be simply solved by making it so that life drain effects cannot reduce a target past 0 HP I feel, thank you.

  Animated Chat Faces

Being a big face icon user, I of course tried to make an animated face. It was just a simple red-tinted angry face that shook around for moments of extreme rage, but much to my dismay it didn't work when speaking ICly. It did in the UI though, which is a little funny because the party frame and stat page were obviously not where I wanted it to work but they were the only places it did.

Just felt a little odd, not sure if worth implementing. I'd like to have this though. Probably prone to abuse, but most things are anyway...  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  IC Typing bubble

The little bubble that pops up over your head is nice. Unfortunately if you use macros to open up text boxes to type into (like any person who's ever played any other RP game on byond) instead of writing in the command bar, the little bubble won't appear and you're stuck doing it manually. Which at that point, since you're already mousing over in that area, you might as well just click in the command bar and type there instead.

Thus, I suggest: Have the Say/Emote/Shout/Whatever-else text windows activate when open and deactivate when closed. Pretty please!

  v.2.31b (Event Tools) Divide not properly dividing

If you give a custom mob the Divide skill (from Jammers) and hit it with a melee weapon, it will instead spawn a mob with the name "monster"... with a red soul icon and the following stats:

It will not copy the custom icon given to the mob with Divide, nor the stats. Below you can find the Divide source mob's stats:

Basically, Divide is failing to copy the custom icon, stats and does not have the intended HP value for the custom mob's clones.

  [Dormeho] Mercalan Chapel

Residents and travelers in Dormeho may have noticed a new building being constructed on the east side of Dormeho. With the construction now complete, it is clearly a stone chapel displaying the Hallowed Cross of the White Lady.
 
The first sermon within this new chapel will be given soon, accompanied by a special celebration for its opening. Come by on [Sunday, September 27th, 7 EST] to hear the sermon and also participate in feasting, songs of prayer, and watching fireworks. All are welcome, regardless of faith, as long as the White Lady and the grounds of the chapel are respected.
 
The new chapel will begin to service the community of Dormeho by hosting sermons, marriages, baptisms, funerals, and other events as needed. Additionally, those who are in need of food or shelter are welcome to ask for accommodation.

  I have too many Marks [Roles]

Alright, hello all.

Today I'll be talking about the Roles system, and specifically a problem I've experienced in my now several OOC month tenure as the head of the Cellsvich Clinic.

Firstly, currently I have a Treasury of 26,743 Marks at the time of this post. This could be much higher if I utilised the Monetary Aid event in an optimal manner. The reason this has occurred is predominantly because the current events offered to Medical Heads are limited and do not incentivise their use.

Head Medics are not given a reason to use Emergency Notice given they often fulfill quotas by themselves or rely on the community as a whole who are using clinics as a way to get XP, or use external 3rd party messaging software (ie: Discord) to communicate with their other staff.

Over Staff was utilised, back when the feature was bugged and allowed for the easy fulfillment of quotas with a few button presses. Now that this has been patched, its general use has dropped. In my personal experiences I have never used or had a need for it. I've spoken with four other Head medic players regarding this particular event and a majority indicated that they only use Over Staff out of laziness. this is the only major sink for Marks and people admit that Over staff is inefficient compared to just doing the clinic patients by hand. (From the people I talked to, their mark balances were around 15000, 11000, 2000 and 5500.)

This leaves the Monetary Aid, which adds to the mark balance rather than subtracts, and Blood Drive. Blood Drive is the only other useful event for Head Medics, though this can also be ignored if you rely on doing patients by hand rather than Emergency blood patients.

Now, while I've pessimistically bemoaned the current state of affairs, I think this can open the door for some more Role Events for Head Medic beyond that which we have. My personal belief is that this problem can be solved by:
1: Adding more incentives to the current events.
2: Adding new events that provide interesting new dynamics and use for Marks.

Or a combination of the two. I'm personally preferenced to the latter though I can see the merits in the former.
In terms of 1, this could be simply done by tweaking the numbers of the events such as making Over staff more efficient, having Blood Drive have a secondary effect of contributing to quota or lasting longer or some other idea.
In terms of 2, there are a lot more options. Most interestingly there could be a 'turn-in' feature added to the events where you offer a set amount of Marks in return for raw materials like ores or pure water. I'm incentivised to this given it would help the economy by allowing there to be a different way for people to get access to metals like ether or rockdirt which can be painful to gather.

Tl;Dr:
Please add more reasons to spend Marks for Head Medics.

I cant speak for the Water Sourcers, so I'm welcome for any of them to post in this chat to talk about their personal experience with their Mark balances, and I'd also like to thank the other Medical heads I talked to with regards to making this post and welcome any contributions they want to make to the conversation.

Arbalests can still use their Sub-Weapon after using a cannon skill via basics and weapon skills that utilize them. Despite them being on a reload mechanic.

So. Noticed something a bit woah.

The grace period for disconnecting is gone. In all regards. I've done some testing to confirm this and asked around a bit.

It seems the moment a player disconnects, it instantly starts skipping their turn. That means in solo play in dungeons, that's an instant death sentence. I disconnected for 12 seconds earlier and came back to find most all of my HP gone, just thinking to myself. "I was at max HP. I'm pretty tanky. What if I was gone three more seconds?"

One little incident, whether on the players side or the game's side or BYOND's side. All it takes is one disconnect to ruin it all.


or so you thought.


That comes to Part 2 of this. This can be exploited to literally lose nothing in PvE. If you die this way, you just. Don't lose anything. It's as if it never happened. How did I test this, you might ask?

I did two things if you want to replicate it.

One: Just take all your items off besides 20 fodder items. I used Sayakanas Labeled 1-20. Equip 1. Slap only 5000 Murai on yourself. No Crafting Items. Beyond Level 10. Head into a Mine Raid or Spatial Core. 

Go in there. The moment you're about to die, just log off. Wait about 2-10 minutes based on your tankiness and the enemies at hand. 

Come back, watch as every single thing is there and you can even retry the spatial core/mine raid as if you didn't even fail or do it at all.

Fucking wild.

To shorten this. 

There's no grace period for disconnects currently active, this applies in PvP too, and is exploitable in PvE.

  Anchor Edge Basic Attack With Regalia

I've been told that this has brought up previously, but I believe that was right after the item regalia became available so I figure it's been long buried by now.

Can we make anchor edge's three range line basic attack use regalia sprites? I was pretty damn disappointed to regalia my weapon only to find that the basic attack still uses the default anchor edge sprite.
