  Early Warning System
Posted by: Mivereous - 07-10-2015, 08:35 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (2)

Perhaps when towns get targeted by Black Beasts, after another update or two, the town being targeted would have a kind of warning system for such (like guards, or outposts that see them coming, if that would work). These would tell players two or three minutes in advance to a Black Beast invasion, so that those that did not wish to participate (young/really old/incompetent characters) would have a chance to head indoors, or to another town.

Example

Update X.X2
-Karatyn gets rekt by Black Xs all day errday

Update X.X3
-After realizing these attacks are going to continue for a while, Karatyn has upped their security with alarm warning outposts inside and outside the city.

  More Mobs
Posted by: PantherPrincess - 07-10-2015, 02:03 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (5)

Another mob that attacks towns besides black beasts would be cool. It could even be a huge boss AI that attacks the Arena since most players would be there and multiple people could join besides just a party of 4.

[Monk - Golden Glow] Oh my~ You're positively glowing!

Golden Glow overlay Persists after battle, and even stacks somewhat after that fact as well.

  Player Owned Housing (POH)

A discussion came up in ooc, discussing the options for POHs. Suggesting to allow friends to use their donation furniture at another's POH and instances similar to these such as using a house level or music box.

Into the Abyss, But Can Never Return
Posted by: Nytingale - 07-09-2015, 04:00 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

I was in a Level 9 Black Door, on the 2nd floor in a battle. After I won the battle, I returned to where the dungeon floor should be; only thing, it wasn't "exactly there". Rather, it seemed to be invisible (?) along with the walls and the like, as I could move, although I couldn't see where I was going and was bumping into walls and the like. I tried to relog to see if this might possibly help, but the matter remained the same. So, I resorted to an Alga Plume to get out of the dungeon, and returned to it which led to the dungeon's 2nd floor being inaccessible. I asked for others to test and attempt to enter the 2nd floor, but they also could not access it.

I don't really have much more information to go on other than that.

  Well... That's Certainly Not Right....

I'm not sure how this came to be and therefore don't know much on it, let alone, how to reproduce this. Nevertheless, I recently went into a Level 5 Mixed Goblin Tunnsel located on Gold, and when I went inside, I saw the green tiles for movement displayed on the dungeon floor; that is, outside of a battle screen.

Pretty sure... That's not right....

Out-of battle skill use - Plausible implemention inside.
Posted by: Ranylyn - 07-08-2015, 09:48 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (4)

It's no secret that it's stupid that, say, a medic can't just use graft outside of battle. However, it's also no secret that HP and FP recovery moves could be abused in tandem to ensure every single battle is entered at max HP/FP. As such, I've come up with a system to allow some skills to be used outside of battle.

- One trait would be learned. This trait would enable you to use one "Map Skill" 5 times between inn visits.
- Map skills would be set as items, to be used via Shael's utility belt.
- Map skills would be unique to your main promoted class. You cannot use your sub-class's skill.
- Map skills would consume HP, FP, or a combination.

Some ideas for these skills:

Bonder: Refreshes all youkai (since they lack Spirit Regeneration or Reihou)
Void Assassin: Lose 50% Max HP to start the next battle with 60 void energy (Encourage void poisoning RP!)
Verglas: Create a wall of ice behind you to block monsters in pursuit.
Black Knight: Sacrifice 10% of your max HP to gain an equal amount back in FP. (Example: 500 HP = 50 HP lost = 50 FP gained)

Etc.

While some class combos may be seemingly exploitable (Example: Skills costing HP to get FP back can be mitigated by having a way to heal at the start of the next fight) the fact that you can only use them 5 times per inn visit limits exploitability somewhat, and would make your main class far more important overall. This would also allow classes that require specific resources (like Void Energy, or maybe even essence for vampires) to approach RP scenarios more freely without needing to wander off to build them up first.

Special Attack or: How I Learned to Hate Stylish
Posted by: catabur - 07-08-2015, 09:27 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Special Attack 1 doesn't seem to be affected in anyway in Stylish.
Using the spear's special attack 1, Multifront, as an example, it costs 4 M to use. If you use it once, it still costs 4 M to use. The fist's special attack also seems to does this, too.

I'm not too sure about the others.

Golden Glow's shining animation persists throoough everything. Only way to get rid of it would be relogging or using a mirror.

  Literacy - Loss Prevention
Posted by: Ranylyn - 07-08-2015, 04:26 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (4)

[12:41:43 AM] Adam: "You'd really like to write in this thing, but you don't know how!"

... brb bashing my head against the wall because this character wrote letters to old friends literally earlier today and LE is stupid.
[12:42:20 AM] The Maid Of Choice: lolololoplololololplolololololoplolololololololololi

Context: Someone's been drafting apology letters after some... rather awkward social faux-pas. During all this, an LE was performed, and then more letters were needed post-LE... which was not possible due to not knowng how to write despite having just done it.

... okay, so literacy being tied to Fluency is totally neat. But this is... well... the opposite of neat. In a way, LE can kind of make sense as being rusty and out of practice; a bodybuilder who doesn't do any physical activity won't keep those muscles, after all! Your reflexes can dull, your atention can wane, etc. But... is it physically possible to forget how to read, short of amnesia? I've forgotten an entire language, verbally, but I could still read it and I remembered it as I read it. Literacy is a pretty deeply ingrained thing.

Basically, I'm suggesting ways for a once-literate character to not suddenly derp out and forget the alphabet.

Some Ideas:
- A hidden flag that triggers once literacy is attained, that never goes away.
- Automatically letting all LE'd characters be literate simply from worldly experience (you don't need to RP as literate!)
- Attaining Literacy via NPC trainers as an alternative method, so you can quickly relearn it after an LE. (This could also be tied into varying degrees of literacy, and me mechanically tied into quests involving translation, decoding ciphers, and the like, and really opens future potential.)

I personally think the last one is the coolest idea, but that's just me.
