Bounty hunt - church knight impostor
Posted by: lalchi - 01-18-2022, 01:57 PM - Forum: Sigrogana - Replies (1)

Reports coming from different small town situated on Sigrogana warned the empire of numerous  civilian victims who have crossed the path of a dangerous man.
That criminal seems to wear the armor and blade of a church knight, which explains how he may have deceived the victims.

While an investigation is made to find the killer’s location, the empire wants it to be dealt with before the church knights and the Mercala church gets involved on this.
However the criminal has already shown to be thought as multiple attempts by guards as resulted in failure.
The empire encourages adventurers and mercenary to take part to one last attempt of the capture or elimination of the impostor.

The people involving themselves in that conflict will be awarded for their efforts if the mission come to success.

[Event will start with a minimum of 4 players, A maximum of 8 if more are interested to take part in. Although, be aware, if a second group is made, they will have to wait for their turn.

It’s a rather small event to mark my first one. Expect 2 to 4 hours, maybe more if there’s a second group,]

*Tag of interest:
Sigrogana, Mercenary, Mercala, Church knight, Mallus, Boss event.

Boss difficulty : Normal*

Slot : 4(8)/4(8)
Complete

DATE OF EVENT : 29 January. 6/7 PM EST

  Vampire's Rework issues
Posted by: Snake - 01-17-2022, 07:55 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (13)

Vampire's Sanguine Crest form is not really strong enough to justify the drawbacks. I believe this race needs a few tweaks to become something people can at least consider for RP reasons.

Good things about Vampire at the moment:
- Being able to grief your allies with Confusion, because haha funni.
- Being able to freely dish out Titan Gale to allies with Confusion.

Bad things about Vampire at the moment:
- Base racial numbers that completely force them to be mages or bust.
- Biting enemies will cause you to lose a beneficial buff if they have a trait that has no requirements and a pathetic drawback of -10% status resistance. (Cursed Blood)
- Biting a Glykin will make you take a whopping 60 Light damage and not generate essence.
- Biting an enemy requires a Hit check, and can be subjected to Evade or Glancing Blow, nullifying the effects.
- Biting an enemy is a clear signal that you're a Vampire, because you can't cover that bite as something else like Poison Bite or Argent Bite. It has the bold and gold-shiny name "BANQUET" on it.
- Sanguine Crest, while a good way to hide a Vampire's vampiric side, offers no real significant boons for a Vampire and only serves as a gun pointed at the Vampire's skull if they want to use Lunar Lunatism. The stat bonuses are so incredibly insignificant while subjected to diminishing returns, you'd think you are shooting yourself on the foot. Because now you're 100% subjected to a massive healing reduction and Holy weakness at full force.
- Lunar Lunatism has too many requirements, and one is chained to a mechanic that by itself is full of problems by default. Its dependence on Sanguine Crest severely hinders how a Vampire can roleplay having it enough of someone and removing their masquerate. How things go when a Vampire decides to go all out? "oh hol' up a second, lemme bite you so I can be spooky and evil". Come on, man...
- Due to being the only race that has significant less healing from magical sources for having their kit used, they require a large HP pool. And guess what happens when "Large HP pool" meets "Poison Menov's Fang"?
- Holy weakness makes them fold like wet paper before anyone with a secondary weapon on their Item Belt.
- They're always OOCly bullied. All it takes is a metagamer to look at you doing something with your race for them to spread to the whole community and a half that you are a Vampire. Because it's just that easy to blow up the cover.
- For being 'immortal' ICly, but having their drawback apparently being a bad combatant is not really the way here. It limits people's creativity to make use the race for their own storybuilding. If 'immortality' is broken ICly, fix through lore, not by making the race under perform when compared to flipping HUMANS, who are the baseline of SL2. Like, come on man.

Possible band-aid solutions, I.E just buff the race a little bit and call it a day without utter breaking it again:
- Sanguine Crest grants +4 STR, WIL, SKI, CEL, DEF, as a base bonus. So it does not get subject to diminishing returns.
- Lunar Lunatism should grant Sanguine Crest, and have its only condition be needing your Essence above 100.
- Silvermists heals 8% of your maximum HP along its own heal, removes Poison and grants immunity to it for 2 rounds.

Long-term solutions to the bad stuff:
- Cursed Blood needs to be more hindering to the person who picked that trait, like for example, making them lose Maximum HP% or something like that. It's too 'free' a way to ruin a Vampire player's day.
- A way to get Vampires going around Glykins and Holy, be it through equipment, potions, certain conditions or traits. Meeting brick walls on your gameplay that you can't get around it is not fun at all.
- Give us some form or way to masquerade our Banquets as other racials, or straight up use other racials but instead of their bonus effects, it's just banquet's effects. Like for example, a trait that allows us to use a "Fake" Poison Bite, which works as Poison Bite, but doesn't Poison the enemy, instead it gives you some reduced Essence due to your trickery.
- Make their Immortality work another way, lore-wise, if that's the sole justification of why they should be underpowered mechanically.
- Their healing reduction sometimes ruins team play and makes your Priest sad OOCly that they can't do their job while you're around. And there were once situations where you're a Priest, and your party is composed of 3 Vampires. And all Vampires just keel over and die pathetically because you can't keep them alive. That 'healing reduction' should have a small compensation, like "Reduces Healing by X, but that extra is converted into FP and Essence." or "Converted into a Regeneration LVX for 3 rounds". I don't know if this is plausible but at least 'something'.

  Growing Tensions
Posted by: InsainArcaneBirdbrain - 01-17-2022, 05:10 AM - Forum: The Great Six - No Replies

Across the Great Six...

Awareness of the threat the so called "White Doors", and the Lost that come with have only been on the rise, word even reaching the commonfolk in even the more remote regions of the world. Reports of the monochrome landscapes and mysterious disappearances of persons have only ramped up over time to the point that the White Doors are being listed alongside B.D.P.s in reports.

"I just can't do this anymore...  I had to kill him, kill him with my own hands!"

Growing concern amidst the people is apparent, such as parents keeping their young ones inside, or decreased tourism and travel across the continents. Even the less bold adventurers are reconsidering their choice of work with the increased risks the Doors are imposing on the job- a fair sentiment with just how downright deadly and terrifying the creatures involved are. Even those brave enough...  or perhaps foolish enough to actively seek out and hunt the threat are facing an ever expanding repertoire of danger.

"I saw something run past the window last night, and a friend of mine was found missing the next morning..."

This increased awareness also extends to those of leadership and nobility of the Six, creating a more intensive focus on managing and researching the threat than ever. Hopes for a breakthrough or revelation is at a high, but nothing conclusive seems to be in reach in the present moment. Of course past that, there are those out there in the underworld mad enough to try take advantage of the threat the Lost pose, whether directly or indirectly, for their own nefarious gains

"Heheheh, you know how much we can make by using these things? Those idiots will pay good murai for these ones-"

People world-wide are in a state of concern over the White Door threat, and with how things are looking, this rising level of tension doesn't look to be easing anytime in the near future...

[v2.54b] Riposte working in on-hit effects
Posted by: Snake - 01-16-2022, 08:59 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - No Replies

The additional on-critical sound damage from Electric Axe is causing retaliate effects to activate (such as Riposte, Fang-Faced Shield, etc), despite being an on-hit effect.

How to test:

- Use this against an enemy with 100% Riposte chance.
- The enemy will riposte the basic hit, and also the on-hit sound damage, which is not intentional.

This can cause infinite riposte loops if two Electric Guitars are being used against each other, by the way.

Apparantly characters OUTSIDE of battle if they're hugging the arena wall and an in battle effect extends far enough out of battle bounds, such as a fully stacked rune mage rune can affect them.

Such example: A player was against the wall at the arena whilst I was doing a group fight as a Rune Mage. So of course I stacked up a large rune with chronos rune, and its size as a unit allowed it to tresspass all the way to where said player was standing, and strike them, multiple times. It even affected their hp bar outside of battle like a field hazard. I'm sure this will apply to other effects as well but there probably are not many that can do this.

  [Event] Emperor's Flame Tournament
Posted by: Mother - 01-15-2022, 12:59 AM - Forum: The Great Six - Replies (1)

All over the Great Six cities, posters were put up showing a sword with dancing flames. Underneath the sumptuous design, it reads:

"Carnelian, Daughter of Fire and leader of the Crimson Flame Legion, invites you to her castle, The Ivory Monastery, to participate in the great tournament of the Emperor's Flame.

In addition to glory and honour, the three strongest teams will be awarded a monetary reward of 5000 murai each, a set of enchanted swords as trophy and an opportunity to be recruited into the Crimson Flame Legion.

The rules of the tournament are simple:

- Participation should be done in pairs . Team must be named. (You can enrol solo but if there is no-one to pair you with you will be disqualified)
- The laws of the empire, Lispool and the tenets of Mercala (in regard to Mercala usage) must be respected during the matches.
- No 'serious' intent behind a person's attacks. Leaving lasting injuries on an opponent will result in disqualification, and the perpetrator to be handed over to the local law system.
- You may only stick to your current equipment, and stay true to it until the end of the tournament.
- Consumables will not be allowed during the matches.

Failure to follow these rules will result in an immediate disqualification.

If you have any questions about the tournament, contact Carnelian or Archbishop Osborn. We hope to see many of you participating and watching. "

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is an IC event organized by Carnelian with the help of other characters and OOC by Lalchi and me.

As mentioned this is a 2v2 tournament, team participation is mandatory. And it will be single elimination matches.

It will take place Sunday, January 23 at 2pm EST on the Ivory Monastery battleground.

The schedule is as follows:

- 12am EST : End of enrollment. Drawing and scheduling matches.

- 1pm EST : Preacher Osborn will perform a sermon in the main area of the monaster

- 2pm EST : Start of the tournament. If your team is not present nor full, you will be disqualified upon your turn to fight.

We are aware that the last tournament was EXTREMELY long. So this one is intended to be much faster. We would like to aim for a 4 (or 5, max) hour event.

OOC Guidelines:

- Rp is allowed after your turn.
- No healing magic allowed. No void magic allowed. No spellthieving.
- No item belt consumables/weapons allowed , except Bombs.
- Healing and restrain staves are not allowed.
- No changing equipment, classes or skills in the middle of the tournament.
- Combat Timer will be set to 3 minutes, 5 if both participants agree.
- Combat type will NOT be Stylish.
- Combat seriousness should be set to Spar. (If you intend on going Serious, keep us aware through LOOC, and remember it will net to your disqualification.)

If you have any questions please contact me or Lalchi in dms on discord. Same nickname as on the forum.

If you want to register, please contact me by dm too or seek Carnelian IC.

I would like to thank Lalchi, Skullcat, Julles, Sadbot and Whitender for their invaluable help in making this project possible. They are incredible people.
And a lot of thank to Kunai for the help with this hellish post.

[Tavern Rumors] A certain Lispoolian Tournament...
Posted by: Snake - 01-14-2022, 07:44 PM - Forum: The Great Six - No Replies

Rumors about a certain Tournament would likely be spread across the Great Six. No further details are given just yet, but if one would sit down and listen to Bards playing some advertising about it, they'd learn a few little bits and pieces.

[Image: unknown.png] "Hear ye, veteran adventurers! For a chance to test your mettle is to come. The prize reward of that only ever conquered by the paired strongest one."

[Image: unknown.png] "Set in the cold yet comforting enclosures of the Ivory Monastery, soon to be filled with a songs of war; Magic slung and metal parry. With your trusted ally you shall fight against two more, and through team strategies, put your opponents to the floor."

[Image: unknown.png] "A fair clash between your honed abilities is the expected, honorable rules about fairness should be respected. No Potions, Healing nor Gear Swapping allowed, in so to make your victories worth being proud."

[Image: unknown.png] "The time for combat is yet far long, around the 23rd mid-sun of this merry month, but be wary for a chance to get in. For glorious stories about the winners shall we will spin."

(Basically, this is a prelude to a 2v2 tournament that's going to happen in the Ivory Monastery, dated Sunday, January 23 at 2pm EST.)

(A proper announcement will likely be made later with the expected prizes and additional information, I just got ICly paid to write this lmao)

[Image: unknown.png] "Bah, running around everywhere across the Great Six singing advertisements is tiring you know?! Aren't we a little underpaid here?"
[Image: unknown.png] "Come on now, don't be such a baby, Jack-Midget. Where's your adventurer spirit?"
[Image: unknown.png] "Exhausted, granny Tunes. I feel frozen, dried, accursed and with an arrow to the knee. I wanna go back home..."
[Image: unknown.png] "Fine, fine. How about the Hearth for the final stop? Maybe you'll get to see that girl you fancy?"
[Image: unknown.png] "LET'S FUNKIN' GOOOOO!!!"
[Image: unknown.png]"Tee-hee."

  Chimera Chompers
Posted by: Pyro - 01-14-2022, 04:28 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (2)

As it stands, Chimera are a race given many parts that don't quite make a whole equal to other races. Only three of their acquired traits can be deemed useful. And even then, they're situational at best save the mild poison infliction. Argent bite, petrification gaze, and starlight gaze.

This doesn't really reflect their IC all too well. They aren't very scary mechanically. Even a Corbie is more frightening with passives like Stay Afloat. Tackling the
first of many abilities that aren't particularly useful, I will be addressing the Shark Fangs. A passive acquired by eating a shark.

"Enhanced, sharper teeth help the Chimera eat their foes. Gain Shark racial type. +5 Water ATK. Consuming remains no longer uses physical stamina."

+5 water ATK is nice. Kind of. But it needs more. I believe that it should give the Chimera a skill called "Shark Bite", an autohitting attack with the same scaling as Argent Bite. 3 momentum. Inflicts level 10 Wear Down, with the potential of level 15 if done from behind or the enemy is grappled or restrained. Level 20 if done from behind AND the enemy is grappled or restrained. Similar to weapon potentials, but with much more requirements.
