  Bob-omb Bomb

Can the Engineer's "Explosive Art" innate work with traps, too? It'd make the innate actually useful.

  Let's Burgeon SL2
Posted by: Blissey - 09-19-2015, 02:00 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (9)

So far, Sigrogana Legend 2 is currently extremely unfriendly to how a roleplaying game that involves creative writing elements should be. The game lacks any actual character impression, immersion, and influence – and unfortunately, this is turning roleplay in SL2 incredibly stale, unsightly, frivolous, and ridiculous all around, with no ample room for any serious roleplay without being entirely ridiculed and removed from the “meta”.

What we have (significantly so and by memory recall):

  • A diversely aesthetic world with wondrous lore that is dutifully updated and established by Dev.
Cities and states, countries galore, with leaders of these cities, states, and countries, as well as organizations within them that can’t be impacted by any actual character influence.
  • An amazing, tactical combat system that, perhaps, could use a bit of tweaking and balance.
  • Mini-games in which players and characters alike can involve themselves in for various in-character or OOC reasons, such as gambling.
  • Timed events in which players can band together to defeat whatever menace is striking.
  • A lovely housing system which could use more love.
  • A singular plot line which is entirely OOC due to the confluence of players doing the exact same thing, and thus unable to fully immerse themselves into it because of how rigid the actions are – therefore everyone’s doing the exact same thing and there really isn’t any real wiggle room to have a character boast any feats they may have performed.
  • Far too many weapons and battle items to count.
  • Dungeon crawling.
  • A donations/rewards system that is, luckily, not directly influencing player combat, or making the game P2W (play-to-win).
  • A lot of classes, and therefore, some battle diversity.
  • A farming system.
  • And the general community as a whole.

So what’s the problem?

Player characters can’t affect the world. Player characters can’t become leading forces when it comes to events that could become lore-changing, and in some cases, lore-breaking. I and many other players currently think that SL2 is far too stagnant and too static to be considered a legitimately fun and immersive roleplaying game – right now it just feels like a dungeon crawling MMORPG, and the roleplay that does go on (although not always so) is very frivolous and lackluster.

So what can be done about it?
  • Allow player characters to assume positions of power – to actually play characters already established by lore, or completely new ones engendered by players themselves. If a player, for some reason, needs to abandon a character with significant pull in the plot or in the world as a whole, I suggest making sure that the characters always have logs of things they say and do (likely kept in a file in the game, of course), which can then be reviewed by the new player assuming the character and going from events that have transpired.
  • Allow players, through admin supervision and event forum applications, to create events that could significantly affect the world or portions of the world – wars, infrastructure changes, reconstruction, advancements, technological innovations, companies – all those great things.
Allow typical characters created by players to go “from the bottom to the top”. Change can be very dramatic and radical – and if a character garners enough of a following, even a political powerhouse could go down and a new leader could reign supreme.
  • Allow players to map for the game – this has been discussed briefly already, and perhaps setting aside the tools to do this (much like Mitadake High) to incorporate new map features could be established. Through doing this, new areas can be created, and change can be seen in current I.C. locations and venues.
  • Recruit new GMs -- perhaps with applications asked to be filled out, an intake taken, or something -- something to assure that the person chosen is trustworthy in handling the job.
o Likewise, give GMs the ability to cast events once more, with far more stringent and rigorous rules and guidelines set to avoid any abuse they may dole out with whatever new-found, expansive editing powers they may be given. Keep a log of this – a log of each and every editing action a GM gives, I.P. logged, et cetera, to pin-point any potential abuse – if any at all.
  • As for houses – right now, they’re great, but unfortunately, the customization is still a bit limited. We can’t customize the exterior of houses, and likewise, the interior furnishings that we can create are magical, but not enough. It’d be great if players could have access to actual map icons to further increase the quality of their houses – for those tiles and those objects used for mapping the world are fantastic.

Thank you for reading this. Please avoid any and all comments unless they’re constructive or idea proposals for Dev to review and, potentially, consider. Any and all flaming in this thread – as well as derailment, which is of course inevitable – will be rewarded with a request for a lock.

  [QUE] Skill Clarity

"Ruby Beam"' Wrote:It may also inflict Blindness on the target for 2 turns. The chance improves with Carbuncle's level.
How, exactly? Does it add full level, half level, what? Do the other skills do this, or just Ruby Beam and Wink?

"Black Rose"' Wrote:There is also a chance it will inflict Charm LV X (X = half of Wawa's level) or Blind to that target for 2 rounds (but only one per cast).
How does this work? Is it just 50/50 and then tries to inflict whichever one?

"Demon Plant"' Wrote:In addition, 10% of the damage dealt by the owner of this skill is returned to them as HP.
This seems to only apply to attacks, is this intended?

I randomly got stuck in the battlefield of Hugo's fight. I assume it was because I spam clicked the arrows to advance through dialogue, and it ended up creating multiple overlays of Ashe's portrait. It's possible to walk around in it and stand above Hugo, but clicking the arrows to continue Ashe's speech does nothing and it's not possible to get out without a ban, to my knowledge.

UPDATE: Being booted seems to have caused a 'battleception'.

Nothing happens if you click the battle indicator in the second image though.

  Not-so Custom Battlefield
Posted by: Soapy - 09-18-2015, 03:41 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (4)

I think Custom Battlefields should cap at 21x21 instead of 20, since rooms tend to have an odd size due to things like doors.

I also think we should have a way of hiding it (and making it not dense), since the positioning is so specific and not everyone wants a cat statue in the middle of their living room.

  Pink's Castle Tower
Posted by: Mivereous - 09-17-2015, 02:26 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - No Replies

I walked into a level 49 Spacey Castle, and it black screened. My HUD was still there, I tried to Plume out. It consumed the plume, then said I wasn't in a dungeon. Relogging kicked me out. I went back in, because sometimes my computer just black screens walking into dungeons anyways. Again, black screen. Again, relog. And then...

We had a nice chat and then I left and appeared in front of Air.

  Noble Houses: Oniga
Posted by: Neus - 09-17-2015, 11:20 AM - Forum: Gold - Replies (4)

YUT

Sigil: A golden dragon head.
The sigil is both an homage to Ryart, the Gold Dragon, who was of clan Yut originally. It is also a metaphor for the family's stronghold, Old Grey, which sits as the northmost hold on Gold; somewhat similar to the head being the northmost appendage on a dragon.

Colors: Gold, sandy brown, green.
Yut uses simple earthen colors that show the memorable qualities of their homeland. Green is somewhat less used in recent years, but was a common cloak color before the curse.

Heirloom: Braver
Ryart was originally a member of the Yut clan and when he no longer had need of his sword, the family took it into safe-keeping. Now, it is their most treasured heirloom and a symbol to all others in Oniga of what the family stands for.

Size: Large
The Yut clan family tree is large and wild, often said that 'there's a Yut in the world for every grain of sand on Gold'. Since marriage is often not used as a political tool in Oniga, and the Yut are a clan of few secrets and high wealth and respect, they are often quick to marry and breed. However, with such size comes a lack of focus; if you aren't a close relative of the current head, chances are you aren't important enough for them to take notice.

As such, many far away from the inner family will form new, smaller clans that serve as vassal to the Yut clan, still using the golden dragon and swearing their loyalty to their old clan, but without sacrificing the well-being of their family.

Stronghold: The Old Grey
Located to the north east of Oniga's capital about a mile into the desert. Was located there before Gold's Curse. The land it sits on is high enough to not be completely swallowed by the sand. Once covered in colorful banners, the sandstorms have torn them down, leaving only a smooth-stoned gate wall. However the storms have also finely polished the golden sigils in the walls below the battlements, making the royal family's fort a brightly shining beacon in the desert.

Despite the curse making the land the stronghold is in very unwelcoming, the Yut clan refuses to budge.

Values:
Known first and foremost for their honor, it is no understatement that the image of respect and swordsmanship that Oniga has in the eyes of foreigners was predominantly maintained by the Yut clan. They value many of the good tenets, such as honor, mercy, and fairplay in all things, giving them a very positive image with the common people. However this has also lead to inflexibility in times of crisis, as well as caused them to have a deep-seated grudge towards the Waragiri, and to be distrustful of House Cyre.

They are true to themselves and others, earning them a strong, positive reputation as sellswords, which is a hard thing to accomplish, and not always a good one. Many look to sellswords as discrete thugs, and members of the Yut clan are often unwilling to compromise their personal beliefs for the sake of employment.

They have a small vassal house tied to them, the Kusanagi, who are famous for being bodyguards to powerful men. This is a reputation shared with the Black Knights of Chaturanga, but they have recently lost credibility after the assassination of Tennou Myoga, whom they were charged with protecting. They have many similarities between the two of them, however, and were originally lead by an illegitimate child of the Yut family's head. A common saying for the gold dragon sigil wearers is 'Gold for dragons, green for grass', referring to common hair colors for the two. (Kusanagi is the name of the sword held by the Kusanagi vassals, which means 'grasscutter'.)

History:
The Yut clan was one of the three great clans from the earliest days of Gold, alongside the Miashima and Azanbe. Their reliability was what brought the two other clans, the aloof and mysterious Miashima, and the wise but distant Azanbe into a sense of trust. Together they formed the alliance that drove back foreign invaders and united Gold.

And since then, not much has changed. The Yut remain in tune with their ancestor's values. They served as the loyal and dependable sword and shield of Oniga, making up the majority of the nation's land forces.

During the invasion of Sigrogana, the Yut clan lost about a third of its numbers, but it was still the most numerous clan among all others in Gold. After Gold's Curse began, many were forced out to different lands among the Great Six, serving as sellswords, earning the clan much in the way of Murai. Seeing a Yut out and about in the world is not uncommon.

During the beginning of Tennou Myoga's reign, a conspiracy by the Waragiri clan was uncovered by clan Yut; the head of the Waragiri at the time, Kelagu, thought that Myoga was too soft-hearted and weak, and was going to use it as an opportunity to assassinate Myoga and his children, and then intimidate the other houses into electing Kelagu's son, Benari, as the new Tennou.

When this conspiracy was brought to light, Tennou Myoga gave the slighest hint to the fire that was in his heart and had Kelagu taken aboard a fishing ship, sent out to sea with his arms and legs bound, and threw him overboard, resulting in his almost assured death. The rest of the Waragiri clan was spared, but they were disgraced, often mockingly called 'Uragiri' (Onigan for betrayer). The Yut clan has never forgiven this transgression and are still openly distrusting of Waragiri clan members, and often treat them aggressively.
