Before we begin, I would first like to apologize for posting this thread a full week later than originally
intended. Unfortunately, OOC is OOC is OOC, and there were some mitigating circumstances involved.
 
This project is the joint brainchild of Hanzo and myself. I am responsible for designing the newspaper,
collecting the stories and writing the articles.  The Imperial Envoy's name,  extensive background lore
(which cannot be alluded to in this thread because of SPOILERS) and the political decisions made with
regards to any specific stance the Envoy takes on each story can all be accredited to Hanzo's mind.
 
This introduction will not repeated in the actual posts.
 
  

 
 
The Envoy was created under these three Core Principles:
 
 

 
 
#1 - To provide all Roleplayers in the game with public access (both ICly and OOCly) to information
such as potential plots,  points of contact for  various services  their character might want to use,
and where their  character can go,  in order to find  the sort of roleplay  that they are looking for.
 
#2 - To provide a stronger sense of a 'dynamic world' by openly publicizing the consequences (if not
the actual events  leading to said consequences  if they should happen  to be a secret  known only
to a few characters)  of other plots,  or actions.  Even if your character was not there,  by reading
about the fallout, or the plot itself, the fact that it did happen should still feel 'real' to you.
 
#3 - To provide a stronger base of immersion to Roleplayers, by provisioning information that could
typically only be  discerned through  discussions held in  various privately-accessible  servers via
an In-Character medium instead, to at the very least offer a few extra talking points in your RP.
  
All information has been painstakingly collected through IC means alone, beyond arranging meetings
for interviews through OOC channels in order to ensure we are on at the same time. The information
gathering period took me the better part of a full month, requiring me to be present in the game for
a near-perpetual basis, living at the mercy of others' schedules. This is not sustainable, for me.
 
For this reason, the future success (or failure) of the Imperial Envoy will hinge around the SL2 RP
community's support and reciprocation. Any and all help (even if it's just dropping the occasional
tip-off that Domino can follow up on) would be hugely appreciated!
 
 

 
 
Timekeeping with the Imperial Envoy
 
 

 
 
The decision was made at the inception of this newspaper, to use an analog of OOC timescales for the
articles, in order to make it easier for you, the readers, to visualize the sequence of events.
 
The timekeeping method employed by the Imperial Envoy should not be considered In-Character,
except in such instances where you personally prefer to use a 1:1 timekeeping ratio.
 
The format provided is as follows:
 
[ IRL DAY ] / [ IRL MONTH ] / 3 [ IRL YEAR ]  -  For example, today's date would be: 08 / 08 / 321.
 
If you wish to convert this into an in-game date,  for the sake of your own plots or your own personal
timekeeping decisions, then follow these two simple steps below!
 
Step 1 )  Get today's date, IRL. Count backwards to the article date and multiply the no. of days by 3.
 
Step 2 )  Get today's date, In-Game. Subtract the new total no. of days from the date on your Laplace
Oracle Card - obviously, take into account that months have variable days.

Please note that the Imperial Envoy is an Imperial Newspaper. Therefore, any misrepresented details
or 'smearing' of other projects, factions or characters are entirely by design.
 
If your character has not been accurately represented, this is nothing personal.  It would simply be as a
result of a decision made by the Imperial Envoy's personnel, ICly, to do so in accordance with the paper's
political stance. If you are wondering whether we are the corrupt bad guys - you'd be correct.
 
As such, any negative opinions expressed towards certain plots or characters should not detract, in any
way, from your decision whether or not to Roleplay with that person,  or become involved in their plot.
 
The fact that their / your story is in the newspaper to begin with, should offer you with the clue that it
is rather interesting to us, and we wanted to share it with everyone else!
 
Finally, everything that I have told you is solely on an OOC basis. What you do with this information is up
to you, at the end of the day. If your character is naturally skeptical about the Empire, and everything it
does, then by all means avoid us, speak out against us, torture Domino to death - whatever you like!
 
If your character is, however, supportive of the Empire - there's a fairly good chance that they'd have no
reason to suspect duplicity on the Envoy's part. You may even agree with our stance...

Planning & Rules :

- The writing will start with a keyword theme.
Once the theme revealed, writers will have to write their book around that given theme with a limit of two OOC weeks.
(Between the August 11 and August 25)

- The book needs to be a maximum of 10 pages and a minimum of one page. 

- Once the two weeks of submission passed, any book submitted will be rejected for the contest but still can be paid for display.

- EVERY writer giving a book will be paid for their work for 500 murai per pages written.

Books not respecting the theme will be disqualified, but still paid. 

- Do have fun on this event. Smile

  Wyverntouched Trait Suggestion - Welcomed Poison

Wyverntouched currently have scaling benefits from building SAN in regards to poison. With more SAN, they get more and more resist to poison, and of course, being poisoned grants them a hefty strength benefit.

The problem is that as you build SAN, your status resist gets more than high enough that most sources of poison simply won't land most of the time. This feels counter-intuitive, so I'd like to suggest a trait similar to 'Welcome Corruption', that sets your status resist for purposes of poison to 0. Or even guarantees incoming poison statuses sticks to you, tying into the ability of Wyverntouched to willingly absorb poison at a simple touch.

Request Details -

  I would like to have this Papillon be a member of the organization of Albedo's ruling council.  This would imply a measure of power in dealing with day-to-day situations in Albedo, with such examples:  Putting out requisitions to members, sharing information; scouting individuals that would be of value to Albedo; hearing out grievances, requests, or reports from members of Albedo; placing preliminary restrictions on and calling for the presence of members acting out-of-line until an opportunity of conference with other Albedo high council members over the case and/or punitive measures comes.  Such actions taken in the role of a leader of Albedo will be promptly reported to GMs, and in cases outstanding, approval will be waited before before action resolves;  I.E., should a member cause a stir-  Any actions taken, such as inhibiting their access to Albedo, or summoning them for review by the council, would be taken after GM approval would be made.  Even in cases not requiring GM approval, significant actions will be logged and submitted promptly through appropriate channels.

In the interest of preserving the secrecy of Albedo, as well as to avoid treading on the organization and the world carelessly, other actions pertaining to the organization of Albedo would be taken only with both GM approval and consultation with the council of Albedo.

As a somewhat-eccentric member of Albedo, and with access to a significant, but somewhat modest personal reserve of resources-  This character will have a portfolio of a number of crafted homunculi and mechanations.  Players interested in having a character created by this character will be welcome to do so.  Due to the character's personality, the mechanation or homunculus in question may have any level of tie to this character-  Whether they know each other well and speak frequently, or don't even know Allocer to be their creator.

Despite this character's position, I do not intend for them to be particularly powerful-  They may be able to fend off minor threats, but their role in the organization and how they attained this status would be unconnected to combat ability.

Finally, this character would dwell within Albedo;  Spending much, if not all of their time in the underground hideout these days.

Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) -


Albedo is an interesting concept, lore-wise, but as far as I understand it's fairly loosely organized so far.  I'd like to contribute towards supporting the organization in lore, and give players an opportunity to tap resources within the 'guild', so to speak.  Playing a higher-ranking Albedo character gives me the opportunity to take a backlines, supporting role in RP-  Where Allocer can be sought out for help, advice, to report, or regarding a number of other matters, but without too many driving goals, he'll be fairly self-contained-  Interacting with Albedo plots primarily, and keeping things fairly simple.  This isn't intended to prevent players from acting loosely with Albedo membership that are, but mainly to provide RP and direction for players interested in making their membership in Albedo a more important part of their character.

With the presence of Allocer, an IC mouthpiece can also exist for anything that GMs would like to put out.  It can be discussed in an official meeting backstage, and be presented by Allocer to the playerbase associated with Albedo in a number of ways.

One more hope I have regarding this application is that it could give precedent for players to make similar applications;  and for this council to gradually be filled with players, instead of primarily non-player-characters.

The final note regarding homunculi and mechanations is a request that sums up the idea that I'd like to make it easy for players looking to make a Homunculus or Mechanation to get things rolling fairly quickly.  So long as they send me a DM, I'll be happy to give them the go-ahead and get them started on their new character-  And they'll be able to choose their involvement with Allocer, which allows them to stick close and remain involved, or head off and be uninvolved with Albedo.  Whether this opportunity is used or not, I'd like to present it as an option to players;  and if it is taken, I think it could help construct a world with a firm, fleshy feeling to it.


Roleplay & Lore supporting your request -  

Albedo may be loosely organized, but it still is an organization-  And given that, there will be members that are more in-the-know or more involved with bureaucracy than others.  A council to determine action in a slow fashion, regardless of whether or not they're the ultimate power in the organization, would be beneficial.

This character is one that's been sitting on the backburner for me for some time;  They've been spending most of their time in a private library, reading, only meeting with individuals when approached.  Because of that, I've not done particularly much for them, nor do I have supporting roleplay for this;  I intend for this character's proper debut to be as a high-ranking member of Albedo.  They have a well-established personal history and backstory that I'd be happy to discuss outside of the forums with any GM willing to give my application a look-over.


Besides that, primarily what I'm looking to do here is provide lore, rather than get something out of existing lore.  With a named head in Albedo, I would welcome players, and particularly state-militaries(mostly Karaten) to use his alias- or name, as it may come to be leaked- in roleplay regarding Albedo.  His presence would give players focusing on IC-first opportunity to join Albedo in a fluid fashion, and would give Albedo-affiliated characters an easy avenue to seek out for advice, help, or in general support from a senior-  As well as someone they may want to learn from.  These are lore-hooks that I want to provide.

I'm suggesting various subtribes that would would extend their affinity to other weapon types. (similar to how wild elves work)


Apertaurus

Tribe of brutality, extends reaper affinity to fist weapons

Tribe of the Oni, a Tribe that migrated to Oniga some time in the past, thus learning the ways of the sword and extending their affinity to swords.


Reaper 

Tribe of the Stalker, a tribe of silent reapers that attack in the knight, ending their prey before it can put up a fight, extending their affinity to daggers.

Tribe of the Hunt, A tribe of persistent hunters that roam long and wide on their hunts, extending their affinity to ranged weapons (which would just be guns at the moment since bows currently cannot be changed to remains)

Guidelines for Lore Questions
1) You are limited to one question per topic. You may ask follow-up questions related to your initial question provided they are mainly 'yes' or 'no' questions.  For instances where you are clarifying lore details, or for minor questions, it is recommended to ask in the #lore-questions Discord channel instead of in this thread.
2) Questions should avoid being overly specific when the topic is unknowns. (IE: Was anyone on Sigrogana ever killed with a spoon? Has there ever been a scandal involving a noble family on Kysei?) For this reason, it's best to ask questions pertaining to subjects that already have some establishment in the lore.
3) Avoid asking questions on the basis that you are trying to invalidate someone's RP or otherwise harrass them, etc. If you have concerns that someone may not be RPing properly, or has an outlandish concept, please take them to a GM in private.
4) Refrain from asking questions that have always been answered. Use the forum search function, view the lore compendium, or the wiki pages for the specific races (both on wikia and this site's wiki) to double check.

  Scaling altering Traits.

For the sake of Variety, because people are upset about some of the scaling changes, and because there is an equal number of people who like the new scalings I'm going to suggest these two traits, they would work on all weapons other than tomes.

Brutal fighting  Req to function strength must remain higher than guile.
Replaces the Guile scaling of a weapon with strength.

Cunning Fighting Req to function, must not exceed BW
Replaces the Strength scaling of weapons with guile.


This only refers to the main stat, not any stats gained from scaling keywords.


I feel this even makes sense for guns, as instead of relying on your cunning aim to hit them where it hurts, you're now relying on your strength to handle the recoil of a more violent shot.

  Huge Blade into Greatsword

I think it'd be cool for weapons with Huge Blade to turn into a Greatsword type weapon. Huge Blade for the most part in my opinion is largely impractical for basic attacking builds with the -10 to both hit and crit but I think this could give it more of a niche to fill?

  [v2.48] Combat Dummy being dumb

The Bug: Combat Dummy not deploying when used in a camp.

The Process
1. Set up a camp.
2. Set up a campfire with the kit.
3. Via the 'U' hotkey, Inventory menu, or the Tool belt, use the Combat Dummy.

The Result:
A system message pops up, stating that you've used the Combat Dummy but it doesn't appear anywhere on the map and it is consumed.

Update
I purchased a Soft and Hard Combat Dummy from the Militia NPC in the Tannis Water...house, thing. These deployed with no problem whatsoever! I'm under the impression this only seems to apply to the Combat Dummy one can craft with Level 2 Woodworking.

I hope this helps, please let me know if more details are needed. I only decided to make a forum post after trying to replicate the issue at least three times.
