An Introduction; Sort've
My general belief tends to align with what aids in a better course for the game. Whether in balancing, or in interacting with the community. The role I assume is often in the background acting as counsel if anything. This tends to be my preferred way to go about everything within forum discussions or within the confines of Sigrogana Legend 2. An intermediary as opposed to a face. Eyes are usually observing new trends, divisions in the people, or otherwise.
You will notice a lack of examples used when I allude to circumstances. This is due to how instead of being taken by our word, we find the act reprehensible, as opposed to owning up to it. Understandably people fear being harassed, and rightly they should. Our world is under stressful times further wearing down people at large. Everything is uncertain. Worrying. Aggravating.
Take my words as you whim, rebuke them in-fact-- I insist. Discourse is required for people to grow. To be right or wrong isn't the point. However I've come off as 'holier than thou' enough when perhaps I'm no better. Being idle to allow it to continue and not be addressed maturely is irksome though.
The Only Paragraph I'll Have Beyond the Introduction
From what I've continued to read through for the past day a trend has grown evident. Nitpicking through various discrepancies has always been a trend even in the past; Balance-Fu became the testament to this dichotomy for years. Perhaps it foreshadowed the situation we find ourselves in now. Where an individual's entire statement, or argument becomes an invalidated redundancy over the smallest mistake. A post becomes ignored and silence under a fallacy, no matter its magnitude.
What point it attempts to make? Ignored. The sentiment for the person behind it? Irrelevant. The decency of constructive criticism without inciting provocation? Made a clown-- without the silly honky nose (a special type of travesty). Is it time which has us grow soft, or the outside which has us so on edge? Do we feel a need to protective ourselves this far in the most fundamental of levels?
Are we unable to view people who have wronged us in our minds, or share differing opinions from us with hate? Or are we choosing to keep from putting in the most basic modicum of effort to understand why?
Get To the Point Ignatius
We've abandoned, currently, constructive criticism. We wish to demonize others unjustly instead of forming disagreement. Instead of regarding an entire author's post, we find the single strain which validates our points ignoring the whole point behind why it was made in the first place.
This community is full of fine people. Good souls. And I understand they are on edge for countless reasons. What I pray is people will cease burning bridges, and instead mend them. To give each other comradery.
Please criticize to your hearts content. My position sounds as if I think myself on a pedestal; but even I am no better at times. The singular hope is others will try to be better than I, or that they are right now today.
Alright Throw me Into the Wickerman, Prep the Bees
Thank you for your time. I appreciate it. Please may your day be blessed, and calm.

Addressing Misinformation Regarding a Recent Ban |

Hi everyone.
No, this thread isn't about the ban Chaos recently replied to. His explanation needs no echo, it included everything the team had to say on the matter.
This honestly isn't even about Detema's ban, which I slapped down after a lengthy discussion with the rest of the GM team.
This thread is about misinformation being spread in response to this, and is intended to clear the air so that there's absolutely no misconceptions on what happened and why.
If you are not aware of what's been circulating, I'll give a basic synopsis further on.
I'll also be providing screencaps as I get into correcting them step by step, that I took after the link was given to me by someone asking about whether these claims were valid.
By the by, if ever you find yourself presented with information that's questionable, I and my fellow GMs are always happy to either investigate something or correct or clarify anything that's potentially been misunderstood/misrepresented.
To that end, my DMs on discord and PMs here on the forums are always open.
So there are some hefty accusations within a google document that have been tossed around that are meant to incriminate myself and Kit in regards to this ban.
I won't be showing the entirety of the text here, as the majority of it wildly isn't my business and I hope the best for the player in question in spite of these falsehoods, and don't wish them any more strife.
I also want to make it very clear that while spreading false information and making baseless accusations towards anyone is generally frowned upon and it's even more serious when the spread of it gets out of control, I'm going to chalk this situation up as a gross misunderstanding and hope that the clarifications I make here will rectify that and be a step towards fixing the damage done.
Also please note that this post is not intended to call them out in any way, nor is it an excuse to direct any amount of vitriol their way, as despite the mistakes we all can make, not everything is a black or white situation and I'm not entirely convinced that the letter was made to absolve themselves of guilt or throw Kit and I under a bus enough to condemn them over it.
I think they were genuinely confused, and because of how I handled their reporting at the time and the fact that players aren't privy to harassment issues between other players, I can see how they might misconstrue our brief interaction and assume the worst.
I've also already spoken to them in regards to this and explained the situation in entirety, and let them know that I'd be making this thread, and the reasons behind doing so.
I will say, however, I can't condone this behavior, and please in the future, if you think something like this might be the case, please bring it to GM attention. Or Dev's.
Even if you can't trust my word or whichever GM is currently being accused, at least approach one of the other members of the team about it so they can better clarify whether or not your suspicions are valid, and do additional investigating if necessary to ensure that the allegations are false.
This is how we check and balance each other, and it better ensures that we're all keeping in line.
Due to the nature of much of the evidence involved in the multiple cases that resulted in the ban, and that most of them were harassment incidents, there's only so much I can touch on without incriminating the people involved in each scenario.
First and foremost, please understand that a 1.5 month ban was not passed down due to a singular incident of harassment.
The length of that ban, as I've mentioned offhand in other recent threads of mine, was intended to put a stop to a pattern of behavior that consistently breaks the rules and goes against every warning we've given and hasn't improved during the course of multiple infractions, and generally detracts from the enjoyment of other players.
With all that stated, I'll take each claim and clarify the truths of the matter as best I can.
This I think illustrates where the misunderstanding occurred, and in looking back at the conversations I had with the writer and Kit when they first brought this to me, I can understand how it could be.
The way it was presented to me, as happens quite frequently, is that a player experienced something negative and was venting about it to another player.
Said listening player has faith in the GMs enough to urge the first player to seek one out to assist in handling said negative thing.
Often, the listening player will seek us out for the sake of another to help ease their mind or talk to us in their stead as a general means to be helpful.
It's a nice thought and very kind, but ultimately the people directly involved should always come to us so that we get their side without playing a game of telephone while trying to weed out what's what in a situation.
So when Kit brought it to me and gave a vague summary of 'harassment', I asked that they urge the affected player in question to speak with me directly so that I could ask clarifying questions and better understand the situation as best they could explain it from their point of view, and potentially help the situation.
Kit wasn't in the wrong here, and as best I can determine from my digging into this, it seems to be a case of 'no good deed goes unpunished'.
Here I believe is where my part in the misunderstanding came about.
Kit told me that Seven was distressed and uneasy about the entire situation and wasn't certain about reporting it, so I tried to be as reassuring as possible and asked that he convey that to the best of my ability, I'd handle the situation discreetly and would like to hear them out on what happened.
It's not really Kit's fault that I then put on kiddie gloves to handle the distressed player, that's entirely on me and how I chose to handle the situation at the time.
What I mean by this, is that when anyone comes to me and seems particularly distressed or nervous, I sometimes default to a more passive listener state.
I'll ask clarifying questions, but I don't want to make too many assumptions or put words in their mouth, so I let them talk/vent and they can tell me what's what and we'll go from there.
It's true that during our conversation, only Illumi and Aegis were mentioned. It's also true that Seven asked me not to do anything about it this time.
I agreed, but said that if it persisted, I would be taking action, as it's against the rules and not something I can ignore. Especially if it crosses into the game.
This is why I didn't speak with Aegis and Illumi regarding this situation, nor hand them warnings.
Because Seven* was so distressed, I didn't want to potentially scare them away from reporting by demanding information or asking too much and potentially overwhelming them.
So I didn't ask about Detema's actions at the time and assumed they would mention that situation if I gave them the opportunity and the safe space to. They did not.
In hindsight, not asking was a mistake, and I should have asked every question I had of Seven at the time with the confidence that they could handle my questioning, but I erred on the side of caution and consideration, and here we are.
Unbeknownst to them, I'd already received reports from other players about Detema and others harassing Seven in another incident entirely, that I then went and confirmed with multiple witnesses.
The logs I saw of that incident, while not brought to me my Seven personally, were damning enough to be something that should not be on the game.
But this incident alone isn't why that ban was delivered.
After that talk with Seven, I took it upon myself to investigate the OOC corner for a time. Two days, roughly. I stood around in it and watched what was going on.
In part, this is because of complaints from other players about Detema's behavior there specifically, but largely it was more of a check of sorts to see if the OOC corner were as problematic as people had been complaining about.
At the time, the GM team was looking into what to do about the OOC corner and whether it should be abolished outright, or moved somewhere else, or some other compromise.
This was before that poll thread I made, as much deliberation was done on it amongst ourselves before we came to that solution to present.
During the first day, I saw a few questionable things but nothing of note that was too damning. I figured I'd watch it for a week and see what happened, to see if people's claims were valid.
As it turns out, I didn't have to wait that long at all.
The second day I looked at the logs of what had happened while I was tabbed out, and saw a host of infractions, specifically from Detema. I was honestly fairly surprised that there was so much bad behavior all at once in such a relatively small window of time, including but not limited to at least two very blatant attacks against other players that not a single person there reported.
This comes as no surprise, but is unfortunate all the same.
If I hadn't been watching, it wouldn't have been reported at all or known to us.
It only gets worse when nobody reports these things, because it makes people think it's acceptable to do and perpetuates the problem.
Thankfully the addition of server-side logging will enable us to run these checks more frequently, and catch more things that run afoul of the rules and lore.
This is a fairly harsh accusation made against someone that seemed to just want to help and had faith in my ability to handle a situation.
As far as I'm aware and as best I could determine, they don't have any personal vendetta against Detema, and only spoke up because they witnessed and heard things from multiple parties that they felt were wrong and needed to be looked at, both in-game and off-game, with concerns that the off-game things would cross over into the game and become more of a problem if left unchecked.
As they often do.
Another really harsh accusation, far worse and more damaging than the former.
If the former claims made were borne of a misunderstanding, here's where it was hammered in pretty hard, and starts to look less like an assumption made in ignorance and more of a direct attack to absolve oneself of guilt.
Which, to be fair, it's not your fault Detema was banned, and feeling guilty over it is nonsensical when you can't control other people's behavior.
But dragging two other people through the mud just to say that you're completely squeaky clean doesn't really help anything.
Whether this were truly a malicious attempt or not, I can't say with absolute certainty.
I can see where assumptions could theoretically be made and false conclusions drawn, but at no point in any of that document was there any indication of anything but absolute conviction that these claims were true enough to write up all this, bold the important and most eye-catching bits that damn myself and another player, and pass it around like confetti.
This is where I doubt the intentions behind it.
But without solid proof that it was malicious intent and not just a very misguided mindset that led to this being drafted, all I can do is clarify what happened and why, and hope for the best.
In addition, I've not interacted with Detema enough to know or care what they're like nor form much of an opinion on them from personal experience.
What I do know is things other GMs have had the pleasure of dealing with in the distant past and the not so distant past, and what players have brought to our attention regarding their behavior since I became a GM, and what I personally witnessed while investigating the OOC corner.
I'll finish this by saying that unbased claims like this don't just damage the reputation of others and lead to ostracization, harassment, or toxicity, but also damage what could and should be a more open discourse between the community as a whole, as it breeds an awful amount of mistrust.
We may always have some measure of division, but please don't poison things further if ever you can help it, intentionally or not.
If you aren't certain of something, or there's any shadow of a doubt, all you need do is ask for clarification and we'll provide as much information as we can.
Thank you for reading.

Tayuya Rhul - Gift of Belorage |

 |
Applicable BYOND Key - Comic Sans MS
Character Name - Tayuya Rhul
Request Type - Unique interpretations of game concepts.
Request Details - Hello there, it's your boy! I'm after clearance for roleplaying a current combination of powers for my character that's summarized into a single blessing named 'Gift of Belorage'. In shallow details, the embodiment of a Wyvern's racial powers to a different race, Lupine, in addition to Monk and Firebird being taken into a different direction, while still revolving around their archetype.
Roleplay-wise:
- This grants a notable resistance to all forms of poison and the ability to purge it from oneself.
- The ability to speak and comprehend draconian language.
- The ability to transform polearms by imbuing them with the blessing for as long as it is being wielded by the blessed in question. The result is the temporary creation of a 'draconic spear', which reverts to normal if not held or powered for longer than fifteen minutes by the blessed.
- The ability to materialize a chitin-like black armor through magic through the same method. The process, unlike the spear, takes a while to go through.
Mechanically:
- I would see the whole blessing as 'Monk', the class. The 'Ki' part is any additional power that can be drawn from the blessing. And since things there are already fashioned as 'dragons', it makes all the more 'dragoon'-ish for me, which is great!
- Firebird's magical feathers do not exist in this case, they're just lingering, frost-like energy wisps that swirl around whenever a nimble maneuver is done.
Limitations:
- The blessing only lasts as long as the Wyvern is alive.
- Cannot be passed down through generations, stolen or undone by anything without the same height of power as a Wyvern or higher.
- The power itself behaves similarly to Ki, where concentration, stamina and Focus is required to maintain it. So things that 'nullify' or provoke 'interference' might disrupt the power, as well as exhausting the user.
- The Wyvern patron, 'Belorage', does not care about the wielder of their gift, it shares no sentimental ties therefore they will not feel compelled to help Tayuya at all, nor think of them as nothing but an asset to be used.
Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) - My character's backstory is mostly the reason for this request, given how I built them mechanically and conceptually. It's also a way to check if the such could be applicable as a 'baseline' for 'Wyvern Hunters' or 'Dragoons'. A concept that involves making a blood pact with a Wyvern to get a small fragment of their power embedded onto one's soul, in so to give humanoid races a small chance to fight against their kind.
I have put it on plural because it would probably take multiple Wyvern Hunters to take a single one down, I expect. Sadly, Lore is a little unclear on the capabilities of those beasts. Thus why the application is so bold too. But trust me, I mean no harm.
Roleplay & Lore supporting your request -
Roleplay-wise, I don't think I could provide much about it, the character was made before applications were a thing and I never really came to discuss about it overall with any GMs, which is my fault and I'm terribly sorry about it, but I tried to stay as clean and true to the lore as possible. It was said once that Wyverns exist and there are even riders of them, so it wouldn't be farfetched to have someone sell their soul to one for power, right? Thus there's where my character came from.
Wyverns are not solely monsters. They can transform into humans and thus allows communication to be made, and so can (probably) share values and ideals with people. This way it makes it easier for them to be persuaded into striking deals or making pacts if such arises. And given their immense power compared to a normal player, something like a 'gift' would not be more than a pocket change to grant another person, in exchange of a new lackey.
Wyverns are also magical entities with mastery of magic which players have no access to, so it's believable that a lifetime blessing/pact would not be hard to be made as long as the trust of one is earned. I also picture that naturally, a single Wyvern would only want a single knight in its stead, in so to not make this so dumb as for having Wyverns giving out free hand-outs of power for anyone who they like or not.
I'm always open for discussion about it, so if there are any concerns or questions for clarification, please hit me up ASAP in Discord. I'm pretty sure you all already know it so yeah.

The Magical Toolbox (tm) |

A fast and silly suggestion. Could we get an item that allows us to place an obj on the ground then edit its icon? In more specifics...
- An item you buy from an NPC (probably in Karaten) that sells a specific usable item named (for now), 'Magical Toolbox'.
- You cannot have more than one of those. It cannot be traded. It may cost a hefty of Murai, like 25000 to 50000, with the option to pay in Asagos or Patrions too (For the people who don't wanna grind).
- On right click, it will have the following options/verbs:
> Change Object Icon
> Change Object Icon State
> Change Density
> Change Pixel X
> Change Pixel Y
> Deploy
> Withdraw
- On use, or 'deploy', an object will spawn under the owner's sprite, using the custom icon that can only go up to 250-500kbs (can be more or less, up to your discrepancy), under the settings of the owner.
- The object's presence lasts indefinitely, but it does not get 'saved', thus reboot may clean it, as well as procs that remove overworld objects from camps like campfires and etc. Naturally, 'withdraw' will delete it from anywhere.
- The density can be modified by other people (to prevent ye' ole' griff), by right clicking it.
The reason is to give players a way to present their things in the game overworld. So let's say... if someone is under a roleplay fight as an Engineer, they can put down their robots as a visual. Or if someone wants to sit on some couch anywhere else, they can just put said couch down and relax. Or even make a campfire anywhere they want. Or display monsters for small player-driven events.
And of course. If anyone abuses this, it can be taken away by GMs and said GMs could spawn another item into the abuser's inventory (Toolbox Fine?), which prevents them from buying this again on the specific character who is punished.
Tis all! I hope this is not hard to take in. I'm really looking forward to make my RPs more visual.

Opinions on the current state of GMs |

Okay, so I have seen a topic like this fluttering by in a few of the social circles of this game, and knowing how the community can be with it's tendancy to keep problems like this to itself, at least until someone makes a push and expresses it exists in the first place, I figured I'd make a thread on this in the hopes that people with thoughts and opinions on this topic will come forth so that we can do as people have hoped to do with other opinion posts - and make the game a better one for everyone.
Now, I would like to express this in the most clear terms to people. I do not think the GMs are bad people, and I do not want this post to turn into a swarm of people slandering them or anything like that. This post solely exists in hopes that we can improve things even further for the community. As such, please be respectful in your thoughts and opinions. We are talking about real, human people here.
That disclaimer aside, though... I'll start with some of my thoughts at current:
- Truth be told, since Walrus stepped down there has been a lack of GMs that truly represent this community properly. It is especially rare that I see a GM actually play the game or interact much with the wider community as of recent. Now, I don't think that anyone needs to dedicate themselves to doing something they don't want to, but I will request: In addition to the current GM team, I believe we need more people representative of the current community. Of course, they still need to be trustworthy so I'm not sure what I'd suggest here.
- I'm noting that people are expressing that there is what seems to be a lack of transparency from the current team. I don't want to start an argument over whether there is or isn't, but a sense of openness is obviously lacking in the eyes of so many people, and as such, I'm sure people would like to see verdicts be made more openly, in a way that allows people to know what has been done wrong, and have chances to dispute it more easily. This extends to more than just the person being punished - the community itself deserves to be in the loop. It makes it hard to dispute things if they're entirely vague.
- It can sometimes feel like the GM team is slow... and that's not really their fault at all. There are four of them, each with different other callings, and they're doing this all for free, so it's kind of a thankless task. This probably ties in loosely with my first point, in that, not only do I think we don't have enough GMs representitive of the community... but that I just don't think we have enough, period. There are times where there are just none around, which can be a critical issue in certain situations. And so, I think we need some new blood to help get the gears working more. (Again, I can't off the top of my head pose suggestions to you, I've identified a problem, not a solution...)
Now, I must once more make clear. I am not calling into question any specific GM's conduct. I am not going to point a finger and say "You should be a GM" or "You shouldn't be a GM". It would be ideal if others strayed away from such singling out if they can, too. I like the GM team, really. You might not. I just think there need to be MORE, taken from the community.
I leave thoughts to anyone else on this matter. Please be civil here, because I'm sure that'll be an important distinction between getting this post heard and just getting it locked for potential toxicity.

War against Karaten confirmed?! [Mage's Guild exploit] |

You can currently 'infiltrate' Cellsvich without passage papers if you either:
- Use Mage's Guild to warp in to Cellsvich.
- Be in someone's party while they teleport to Cellsvich.
- Be invited into party from someone else who is beyond the 'invisible tiles that drop spears on you'.
The Emperor's forcing us to pay taxes, so make him move his butt and stop illegal immigrants (and Black Falcon) from using Mage's Guild without any consequences, dammit!

Victoria Freeman, Request for special weapon |

Applicable BYOND Key - Moku203
Character Name - Victoria Freeman
Request Type - Weapon
Request Details -
I had an idea for my Paplion that I was planning to make into a magic gunner, I was wondering if I could regalia her weapons into mind based attacks so that any shell effects would RPly only be illusory but still cause damage because of it (IE. fire shells making other player characters feel the heat even if it isn't actually happening. thus causing harm to them)
Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) - It is mostly just for the RP of her being able to spread her madness to other people and make them believe she is hurting them without actually causing them extreme physical harm, nothing permanent would happen unless the other character OOCLY agreed to it
Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - Paplions have mastery over illusion and she will also be a trained mage, so I think it could fit somewhat well with the lore, giving her heightened abilities to manipulate minds and make people believe they are seeing things that are not there. (Cinders, Ice, blinding lights etc.)

Applicable BYOND Key - Van Fenrir4
Character Name - Velossfaeniel van Fenrir (Elf)
Request Type - Character Ability (Genius Scientist/Doctor)
Reason why you are making this request (if applicable) - The Character I am suggesting this for, has one purpose in her life and that is to decode the "blueprint to life". She is an Elf thats older than the current counted time and has been around during the Heavens contention even though back then sheltered on mersales. She strayed away from the convenient arts of Mercala, and began to study alternative forms, for the cases where Mercala simply fails (as its restorative healing, rather than true healing)
While she has been around ICly for a think a bit over 3 Years now, I made serval requests already that include her studies but wish to make this more official and elaborate on future goals as well. Things I wish for her to be proficient in, involves in a sense genetics/alchemy, as well as Monster creation (I once asked that in Lore before and got the approval of that being possible) as I feel all of those things, from an IC standpoint, would help her solve the mysteries of life itself.
So what do I envision?:
-One of the worlds best Surgeons: I once asked Chaos about being able to do Open Heart surgeries roughly 2 OOC years ago, which he approved under the condition that she spends time from the point I asked for it, studying it. 5 IC years, which I am long past now but think that she should have advanced since. Would be to an extent brain surgery possible? Generally her having a "standing" in the world in that field, being known as one? I imagine her as someone who would frequent Karatyn and giving lectures as a professor at their university.
-Monsterlogist: The ability to research and break down monsters/humans in detail and reassemble them as well as creating whole new breeds of Monsters with special traits. Even the ability to replace Limbs with others (Like...Humans with Crabnoid hands. AKA shaitan light)
-Engineering Mastermind: To help her research, she relies on machinery over magic in most cases to help her by pass Human/Elf limitations. This reaches from Surgery tools to prosthetics over to advanced Mechanation/Bots or other tools that assist her research.
-Alchemist Loremaster: capable of brewing lots of potions, and creates her own ones of various effects. Mostly Medicine, as she is a capable doctor but also "Enhancing Drugs" and body modifications.
-Researcher of "Blueprint to life": While there has been one event played out once, where she obtained some unspecified ancient knowledge, her main goal is to try and recreate life. Based on the one lore bubble that pops up periodically that all life can be recreated as long as one has the blueprint to it. Essentially that means that she is working towards "cloning" a life which is her main motivation behind being a doctor/monster scientist to find hits towards that.
I do not want to get approved that she can, but it would be nice if I could actively work towards that and mayhaps get slight milestones towards it. For example? Able to perfectly recreate someones finger->hand->Arm etc which can be used to replace lost limbs or malfunctioning organs and therefore save lives of people that mayhaps otherwise be doomed.
This also includes spiritual studies, of course.
Roleplay & Lore supporting your request - - Lore: Outside of her being a Old dedicated Elf Scientist, I had serval things approved/confirmed in the past (mentioned above) and have been part with that character on some events that supposedly give her some deeper knowledge, which I never really could clarify on.
The Lore bubble about "Blueprint of life" is basically what inspired this whole character, and I have asked in the past in Lore about the possibility of creating Monsters ICly (which obviously would be illegal in most parts of the world). I assume that part and the more "Conventional" surgeon stuff is what probably needs approval here. The rest seems relatively basic.
- Roleplay: I have been rping that character for a bit over 3 years on and off. She has always been a not combat character, who has been one of the first Doctors when the Sancutary First opponent and left upon a disagreement with the new lead and the "Overuse" of Mercala, for her taste. She actively avoids using Mercala when she can, as she thinks people rely on it too much and become careless and during certain IC events (mainly around the grief parasite events of before New Cellsvich) were Mercala was ineffective, she was reconfirmed that convenience isn't always the best.
She is the Head Scientist of an long established (by me, but played by serval people) faction "Fenrir Military Academy", which is a military force of Hyoya (Or rather works closely with them and usually stays in Lordwain).
I often used to RP her as a "Quest giver" kind of character, I used to send people into dungeons to gather certain monster components or even capture Monsters for payment which she in turn used for her researches.
She is a true neutral person, who has serval labs around the globe for her researches (along with helping hands) that are mostly hidden to avoid troubles with the Law. She goes however great distances to further her research and has often experimented on the living as well as the dead. For example she would test new medicine/surgeries on people that otherwise couldn't afford treatment.
her studies of replicating life, basically go through the other sucjects I mentioned which is why she is seeking to advance those subjects as much as she can, with her "Immortal" life.
I do not want any mechanical benefits of course, most of this is Characterstory/Future direction for them This is also used for "Private RPs" and events I had a lot, which I never really used in game as I was uncertain as far as I could go with this, so I am trying to make it "Offical" here.
