  Salamander Arena Fight Night

This Friday, August 14th 2020, coming to the Salamander Fight Arena located at the Obenque District in Dormeho. Another competition will be held. Rules are 2v2, Double Elimination. A MVP will be decided among the participants in addition to a victor for the team. The Prizes will be 10,000 Murai and 100 Asagos. A total of 6 teams will be permitted to participate. Each time will be allowed one substitute as well provided someone wishes to play the role of a substitute. All sign ups will be taken 1 hour before the event. Event time will begin at 4:00 PM PST. 

The spirit of this event is to have fun and friendly competition! Come with a good mindset for both winning and losing and remember! Even if not victorious in the double elimination. Anyone may still have the opportunity to earn MVP. MVP will be a majority vote following the end of the competition.

The 'grace period' given to players who log out during battle is not being applied. When logging out or relogging in a solo battle, your turns begin being skipped immediately.

As it stands not a lot of things provoke the idea for newbies to try thing, usually the classes that get unlocked automatically are a given because you cant miss them really.

If possible could we retrieve hints on locked classes that can be used to provide insight to a new playing.

Like Ghost for example maybe not say "Win a fight at 10% hp" but something to the effect that would hint that if you do something at low hp it'd unlock it, so that with this flux of new players they might require less guidance overall for their experience.

I can say it's hard to want to seek help sometimes being new.

  Flower Farming (and friends)

Many years down the line and still a few RNG-gated harvestables remain in the alchemy list.

Shy Snow Flowers, Landlaugher, Hartshorn, Mandrake, Hidden Violets.

As well as some produce that remains seedless.

Bananas, Cherries, Apples, Grapes, and probably some other ones I'm forgetting.

I know in the past suggestions for more farmables have been shot down (like the argentyle mushrooms) but for the flowers and produce it'd have fairly minimal impact aside from easier bomb production as the most major effect.

If it wasn't for all of the above having no reliable means to farm unlike Argentyle, then it'd be fine leaving them inaccessible to farms, but as it stands your only option is to repeatedly harvest from Forest dungeons, the various overworld harvest nodes, or pray Mad Vines or Vampiric Legumes drop them. All of which are massively diluted by other farmable items for arguable less desirable end-results (bombs excluded, I won't argue too hard to get Hidden Violets in but having bomb factories would be fun, okay.)

Any thoughts or concerns would be appreciated. Support your local terrorists farmers today!

Black Falcon is known as a massive terrorist organization led by a Shaitan called Arael Schlager. Arael has been in the imperial wanted board for a very long time, thanks to the countless terrorist attacks and the previous wreckage of the Cellsvich capital, which led to its rebuilding - the town you see standing today.
 
Most people that join Black Falcon have different reasons, but most of them possess a vendetta against the empire. Their leader holds an ardent sense of vengeance towards the emperor, Elias S. Erachial.
 
The Black Falcon tends to be organized with its members, holding a hierarchy that most of its troops follow:
  
-LEADER, currently known as the Shaitan Arael Schlager. He holds most of the authority over the organization and he is said to be completely insane. Despite that, he somehow manages to lead an entire group and people have taken a liking to his ideals.
 
-RAVEN WING, the leading units of the organization that are below Arael's power. The amount of Raven Wings are merely double digit in an army that has thousands of followers.
 
-SPECIAL CLASS, a promoted version of the basic Falcon soldier. They are often dispatched to assist generic troops in skirmishes by commanding them.
 
-FEATHER, the ordinary soldier of the Black Falcon. They tend to dress in black and wear a white skull mask in order to conceal their identity while they're at work.
 

They have their grip on a "trump card" known as Mother, a horrifying insect-like beast said to instill dread upon her enemies. She is rumored to be the source of Dusks, labelled Grief Parasites by the average individual, bugs capable of taking a host and amplifying its negative emotions then generating focus from it. In most cases, they are said to drive their victims insane, and eventually to their death if kept on too long. The bugs tend to look like black clouds when together, making a noise akin to static. Symptoms include but are likely not limited to:
 


-Intense negative thoughts, the most common effect of the Dusks. Hosts are said to feel swarmed by their deepest insecurities, and later on driven mad by them.
 
-Black blood, supposedly an effect of the darkness that's often found within the so-called 'grief parasites' when they get their grip on a host for too long.
 
-Increase in focus, as they not only generate focus for themselves, but they also grant their host some more power in order to defend themselves from attackers.
 


The usage of Dusks is considered extremely illegal by the empire. In spite of that fact, there's been word that some have attempted to establish a Dusk Market for their own benefits, experimenting with and selling them for high monetary gain. Mutations have been found on occasion, causing the parasites to have different colors and sometimes other effects varying from the standard negativity. Dusks are confirmed to be able to reproduce with each other.
  
The ordinary and most common version of Dusks is a black color, and is extremely susceptible to the usage of Mercana, Light and Fire magic. Water also tends to heavily slow down their movement, but mutations occasionally gain different strengths at the cost of having other weaknesses, as well. For example, some mutations go as far as to be fire resistant...
 
The rebellion of the Black Falcon has caused several skirmishes across the land of Sigrogana to occur, and to this day the 'war' is on something similar to a stalemate. Yet, one may get the feeling that the conflict is slowly reaching its climax...
 
Will you save Sigrogana from destruction, or will you attempt to wipe it off the face of the planet? Will you stay away from the bloodshed? Will you do what you feel right...?
  
Is this all truly what it seems like?

OOC INFORMATION
 
Q: So what's this, in actuality?
A: Black Falcon is an event line that I've had on-going for a fairly long time now. Since Event Staff is a thing now, most of the things I wanted to do are far, far easier to carry out. And I have been wanting to wrap it up.
  
Q: What do you mean 'wrap up'?
A: There will be 4 major public events to wrap up the entirety of Black Falcon. Once that's over with, I'll say it's done for good and then stop doing things with it.
  
Q: How will the character depth of the Black Falcon characters be handled?
A: Their most relevant figures won't show just in the major events. The Raven Wings players can have much smaller events in-between them so people can get to experience more about their characters, and flesh out the story better.
  
Q: Who can participate?
A: Anyone. This is meant to give people a fun ride and a decent story to entertain themselves with, as well as possibly gain character development of their own.
  
Q: How do I get involved? The people that are involved with it aren't players I talk with frequently.
A: You can direct message me in Discord at Fern#5298 and I'll help you out in that regard. It doesn't really matter who you are, but remember to be civil!
  
Q: What kind of themes should I expect from getting involved with the Black Falcon?
A: War, tragedy, battle, investigation, political, terrorists, and sometimes dark themes.
  
Q: What should I expect regarding the combat?
A: You have no idea how grateful I am to Event Staff being a thing. Thanks to them, this is much easier to handle in a mechanical aspect. You can normally expect PVE encounters against custom mobs, either as standard enemies or boss fights. Some of the boss fights may be player characters related to Falcon empowered via Event Tools, as well, so there is also PVP. But thankfully not the "I die to doomsquad" version of PVP.
  
Q: I'm not too confident in my character's mechanical ability. Can I still participate?
A: Of course. Not everything is combat and we have a difficulty system for the events that do have it. These are the difficulty options:
  
-EASY
-MEDIUM
-HARD
  
If you want, you can go for the easy life or a big challenge. Parties are expected to be made in events and the party leader decides what difficulty their team will go through (they are of course expected to communicate with the people they're playing with.) That said, if you regret choosing a specific difficulty, you can also drop it mid-event at request. However, you can't increase it, because the difficulties can affect the rewards you might get at the end of the event! Also, if you pick HARD, expect hard fights!
 
Q: Can I get an absurd amount of rewards?
A: Devourer Of Souls (the game developer) has set a hard cap on the rewards that can be handed out by the Event Staff, and we will be following that. Exceptions may be made by consulting a GM during event planning, on occasion, but it would likely be saved for the really important or special things. That is to say... don't expect to be too spoiled! Also, I would most likely be the one consulting a GM for bigger rewards if there is a fitting situation.
 
Q: What is the gist of the event structure for the big public events?
A: Various people with event tools will be helping me manage several areas of the large events. There will frequently be times where people will have to split and head different directions to deal with different objectives, before the event moves to its next phase. You can expect a lot of people, but with the spreading, it should be a lesser amount in one specific spot at the time. That should make it easier to keep track of what's happening. There will be forum posts before each large event.
  
Q: What is the gist of the event structure for the smaller events?
A: They will be both be advertised in the forums and open sign-ups for players to partake in, and characters being gathered ICly to help with a specific event. There may be other methods of involving people, sometimes, but these are the main two. However, since they are smaller, there is a limit of 8 players per small event. If you didn't get to participate in one, don't worry - there will be a bunch of them. Sometimes the limit might be different, depending on the context.
 
Q: Is there risk of character injury or death?
A: Sometimes. You will be warned beforehand, but normally character death risks won't be a thing - it would be saved for the very important things. And it's not like I like killing characters on a whim anyway.
  
Q: I want to have my character die in an event that doesn't have a death risks clause on it. What do I do?
A: I have been asked this before. If you find something that makes sense for it, go ahead. Just keep in mind that I, or rather we wouldn't force it upon you.
  
Q: I would like to do something with Dusks. Who do I approach?
A: You have to direct message me in Discord at Fern#5298 so I can look over what you're planning and approve it. If you are planning to do something with a Dusk Mutation, I will still have to look it over but odds are that it will be run through a GM as well. Keep in mind that the mutations aren't allowed to do anything lore breaking (I.E, you can't suddenly just say that Dusks removed your Oracle Corruption or Vampirism, or that they suddenly turned you into a Vampire or a God. Or a Dragon. Use common sense and what fits in the lore! The general rule of thumb is that if it's doable through other means, it likely can be done with Dusks, but this doesn't apply to everything!)
 
Q: Can I use Dusks without your approval?
A: Please do not, because that could get you in trouble with a GM, specially if you just decided to say you got them out of nowhere! I don't mind who you are, if it makes sense and doesn't break lore then you will usually get my approval!
 
Q: Is there an easy way to keep track of Black Falcon happenings?
A: There will be forum posts regarding the aftermaths of big and small events as well.

  Rouge Rogue ...Rumble.

One thing that has bothered me abit is how... different? base Rogue is from it's subclasses. The base class feels very utility wise, right? Which is how it should be, even if it's a little bit basic and underwhelming compared to some other base classes imo. But, Spellthief and Void Assassin both toss that away for the sake of relying on magic/void. And let's uh, not get into engineer for now.
Playing a FF campaign recently has made me notice that most of a Ninja's or Rogue's subclasses/promotions, if not all of them, are utility based. With only one that relies on magic (Shinobi). And so, I ask of this: A utility based subclass of Rogue, something unlike what we've gotten so far, something that actually FEELS rogue and not 'dagger mage with extra steps'. Something like... a Ninja.
Am I doing this because I play a traditional ninja and have no clue what to build him as without being fucked over because he has a distaste for magic and all rogue subclasses heavily rely on their use of magic one way or another and it wouldn't make sense icly or oocly? Am I doing it because I'm underwhelmed by the state of rogue since it was the first class I ever played when I first played this game over 2 years ago? Am I doing it because I'm impressed and confused as to why we never had a subclass that has the same feel as base rogue? All of the above.

Please move Engineer and Magic Gunner into their own class or something, maybe they can both (and detective) be subclasses of a new base class or something? idk

In conclusion, make Rogue great (again?)

  Changing Dark Imbue's On Hit to Bonus Damage

Most "On Hit: Deals 50% Ele ATK" effects have been changed to bonus damage, but Dark Imbue still gets affected if you hit dark Resist!

I'm talking about the Axe skill from Ghost by the way, the one that lasts 3 rounds and gives a hit buff / makes you do Dark ATK on hit. Can this be changed to be bonus damage? It's already pretty underused as is, and this would get it more love.

  Flash Step Punch (Shukuichi/Geldoran)

I wasn't sure if this should be a suggestion or a balance thread but one person said balance in the dev chat so here it is, basically this is about Shukuichi's 'recent' changes - But more precisely the indirect change it had on Geldoran. Because of the change to be only three skill levels/three movement buff/whatever, we lost two full tiles off of geldoran. Making it must more difficult to space it properly while at the same time making it rarer to be able to use it at all in this way.

This /may/ have been done intentionally to distance it from just being a second hanging, but I really don't want to slot black knight. I enjoy my anime moment of punching someone then teleporting to them and punching them again to send them flying. Double geldoran was some of the most fun you could have playing a martial artist in this game. Its current range makes it very difficult to pull off unless you're basically already melee with someone.

So what would I want changed? Just make Geldorans range added by Shukuichi use Rank +1 or +2, Or whatever is needed to maintain its old scaling, you still need to level and use shukuichi for it, and you can still buff it with spirits to get that extra tile and make your own ghetto-hanging. Nothing changing except the range of a shukuichi geldoran back to how it used to be.

Tannis is a pretty old map in need of some real love to make it much better looking and give it much more appeal to people as a spot to visit, so I'm super interested in taking the opportunity to make an attempt at the map and create something that the community will enjoy visiting.

Now, I know other people are probably making attempts at such a project due to it being one of the more requested update maps - but I have yet to see one active and posted here, so I figure I'd be the first to get my foot through the door. Of course, I'm not opposed to the idea of someone taking over if their map ends up being grander, and such.

With that in mind, though, would it be okay to make an attempt at a remap of Tannis?

[As a note, I'm also looking to see from the community in general what you envision for a greater Tannis, so what takes shape can be created with feedback. Such as what kind of notable spots you'd like to see, how you'd expect it to look, etc.]

In spite to the recent changes for races, I'm opening this forum so people can discuss their own ideas for racial changes, so we can get what needs to be changed all together into a single place that can be taken as a reference for Dev to implement on his own leisure.

Please keep in mind that this is not a discussion thread, post your ideas and be on your way. You can also take someone else's idea and put it on the way you'd like instead.

Either way... From what I've been hearing around, the races that could also welcome changes, be it on their Racials or gaining new Traits are the following:



Zeran


Crown of Heaven

[*]Armor and Magic Armor from Crown of Heaven should be changed to flat damage reduction to all damage (5 + 1 per 8 SAN) against enemies who are being intimidated by your passive. 

The LV of Crown of Heaven is then increased by 5 per mental status effects you inflicted on the enemy. (Fear, Hesitation, Charm, Confusion, Clumsy?, etc.)

Being hit from behind should make the enemy's impatience lower their Critical together with Hit.

Trait: Ram
Should also inflict Fear in a 100% chance, if your HP% is higher or equal than theirs. Otherwise a status infliction chance.

New Trait: Horn of Hell
Only one can be chosen, Heaven or Hell
Further increases damage by 150% of Scaled SAN. Knocks back by 2 more tiles and then knocks down. If the target slams into an enemy, both are inflicted with Clumsy. 3 Round CD.

Reaper and Appertaurus

Macabre Culture
Should grant 10 Elemental ATK per equipment piece.

Reaper's Affinity/Appertaurus' Affinity
Changed to 3 Scaled SAN per 1* rarity. (10* rarity weapons cannot be used).

New Trait: Soul Reaper
Reduces damage by 10%. Scoring Critical Hits against enemies who are Possessed by spirits have a SAN-based chance to release one of their spirits, and recover your HP/FP by 15%. Furthermore, there is a 10% + (Scaled SAN)% chance that basic attacks will instantly kill Undead-type enemies.

New Trait: Inconspicuous Unluck
Removes the visual effects of Fortune Vacuum

New Trait: Path of the Black Cat
Only one can be chosen
If an enemy is looking at you once Fortune Vacuum is applied, the Luck drained in that round will ignore the SAN-based cap, further increasing the Unluck LV.

New Trait: Path of the Dark Crow
Only one can be chosen
Once per enemy, Critical Hits against enemies will apply Omina's Curse on the enemy automatically. Critical Hits while Airborne will also have a chance to inflict Knockdown on the enemy.

New Trait: Fox Hater
Enemy Redtails affected by Fortune Vacuum will never roll their dices higher than 3, as long as your Luck (+ Unluck LV) is higher than theirs.
