Hunt with the pack - Bleed with the pack

[Image: dog-claw-scratch-and-blood-images-11.png]
The Rasa Tribe of Egwyn

In the jungle's deepest reaches, the land is ripe with tribal conflict. Competition for hunting grounds, resources, survival. The Redrayder slavers taking our people. The rampant illnesses, and constant struggle to keep our people fed. Only the strongest can survive in that kinda place. In our home.

And we didn't.

12 years ago, our people got wiped out by a rival felidae tribe after a long history of war. With the recent wave of infections we had to deal with, and how poor the hunts were getting, it was more like a final blow. As soon as we got a bit weak, the jungle came to take us down. And I thought we were the strongest.. Guess when you're living each day trying to get to the next one, it only takes a couple bad days for everything to come crashing down.
And me... I ran. Betrayed everythin' we stood for, in that last moment. Ain't looked behind, until now.

Our people

Oh man... Back in the day, it was all about the pack. The family. We did everything together. Hunt, eat, sleep. That was the way o' life.
The Hunt
We live for the hunt. As soon as you hit 5, if you can run, you can hunt. Our fathers and mothers teach us the ways of our people. Tracking down the beasts, surrounding them, and chasing them down. Dig the claws in their necks, in their legs. Make 'em bleed, but don't make 'em suffer more than you need. Finish the job fast, with a blade or any way that works. Respect the corpse, take it back home and use every part. Thank the beast for a good hunt. Enjoy it. That's why we're alive.
The Rage, the pain, the Rasa way
If you feel pain, then you're alive. The more pain you feel, the more alive you are. We teach our people to use that pain, turn it into anger. That anger turns into power. Nothing can stop a Rasa when they're angry enough. Ain't no beast can stand in our way when we're hunting with the pack. Ain't no wound able to stop us, until we lose all our blood. As long as there's pain, we're alive.
The Teachings
Every other day, the elders gather all the children under 10 and tell them all sorts of stories. Teach them about how to hunt, how to make knives, carve things out of bone, prepare meat, trade with other tribes, build fires and buildings, tan and sew pelts for clothing, and... They teach them the stories of the great beasts. Of course, they also tell them the most important story.
All the kids know about the endless jungles. When a Rasa dies among their pack, they head off to the afterlife in the endless jungles. There, you can meet up with all the other Rasa who died before. All the ancestors are there, hunting beasts in a lush jungle that doesn't end. There's no hunger, no illness, and no war... That's why we take care of our own. Take care of the people here, so you get your place in the endless jungles when your soul moves on through lazarus, and makes it there.
Of course, if you ain't got a pack... Then you're never gonna make it to where the ancestors are hunting. So, well... Don't die alone, Rasa.
The Respect
Hang the beast on a tree, and carve. Start with the pelts, set them to dry. Cut out the best pieces of meat for your pack. Cook them on a good fire. Anything you can't eat fast enough, smoke it on a rack over the dying fire. Take out any trophies. Largest teeth, antlers, horns. Keep ones worth keeping, and show them off. Take out the bones with the most marrow, to gnaw on later. Use the hardest bones for all kinds of things: knives, arrowtips, fishing hooks, sewing needles, even weapons. With the sinew, make sewing thread. Use the intestines for cordage, pull it into thread and spool it or keep it to make smoked sausages with the lower quality cuts, if you're feeding a lot. Throw away anything you won't use into the jungles, let the hungry beasts take it for themselves. This is the only good way to treat a beast.
Eat the meat with your claws, he fought for it, you gotta fight till the end too. Make clothes out of the pelts, the more pelts the better. Keep their memory alive.
The Tribe
There's only one alpha, the one that leads the pack, calls the shots. That used to be my father, but now... It's nobody. An alpha has to be both a parent and the strongest of the tribe. If you don't got kids you can't lead us. Once every year during the week of the summer solstice, anyone who wants to can challenge the alpha, as long as he's healthy. But usually, the title is passed on without a fight. It's a matter of respect. We're a family.
The Den
Every day, we redo the communal bed. Older pelts are replaced, and new fresh leaves are placed around to keep it soft. Everyone sleeps together, because we're one people. Yeah... Back when things made sense.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But all that... Was a long time ago. Sometimes I wonder though, did any of my people make it?.. That kinda stuff keeps me awake. Ain't had a damn good night's sleep in a long time... Still though. I'm gonna keep upholding those traditions. Those are my people, even though all of them are gone, now. It's who I am. I just hope I can keep the memory of the Rasa alive, even in the Empire.
Because they're my family.

  Permanent Blood Drives
Posted by: K Peculier - 09-18-2021, 04:28 PM - Forum: Quality-of-Life (QoL) - Replies (2)

Make all the player role clinics have the blood drive nurse up permanently.

I don't think its all that amazing in the first place for the head doctors to push that button and they likely won't miss it much considering their major allergy to pressing it.

Until the day I can send very angry laplace messages to the Head Doctors I believe we have the right to bleed all over the clinics (in the form of donations).

Maybe the button can instead be replaced with emergency blood bank which adds ups the blood count without the need for players?

There's probably been threads about this before. I'm making another one.

3 Momentum. Any character can use it. Refunds momentum back with a ridiculously high status infliction on a lot of builds.

Puts a stake in any basic attacker build.

I don't like it. It takes zero effort to actually get results with and feels ridiculous from an RP perspective.

  Ki Awoken
Posted by: Snake - 09-16-2021, 07:49 PM - Forum: Balance Fu - Replies (6)

Ki Awoken should have a bonus effect that grants +5% Damage and -5% Damage Taken per 10 Ki the Monk has in storage. Even if this ends up nerfing the stats it grants down to the baseline of 5 (from 10).

This skill is not reliable on its usage one bit and ends up being more self-destructing than beneficial in the overall game plan of a Monk.

In the end you're taking more damage by yourself than the enemy can do to you, given it's a percentage that cannot be mitigated by any meaning. A bunch of stats isn't really what makes a "transformation"-esque technique good, it's its extra effects. For example, Death Knighting is not good because of its bonus stats, it's due to Fallcall, so is Shine Knighting due to its petticots of Blind.

Kind of self-explanatory.

  [v.2.50] Double-or-nothing Tap
Posted by: JamOfBoy - 09-16-2021, 03:02 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Crazy Coyote's double tap was an unfortunate victim of the gun changes.

Simply put, it is supposed to do 110% of the Coyote's SWA as a basic attack with two rounds. 55% per round. This is how it functioned prior to the recent changes.

Now, it is incorrectly doing 55% of the Coyote's SWA over two rounds.

[v.2.50] Clay Pigeon? More like Clay Pig-gone
Posted by: JamOfBoy - 09-16-2021, 02:45 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

Clay Pigeon isn't working.

Shoot an opponent. Make sure you're in Desperado stance. Make them airborne, and shoot them again. The damage is the same. No +18 from a rank 3 Clay Pigeon.

  Knowing Pain? [2.50]
Posted by: Senna - 09-16-2021, 04:44 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (4)

I'm unsure if this is a bug or not but Knows no pain in Matador does not seems to give that physical damage reduce before reduction. It does still reduce armor though.

It seems Matador style in Demon hunter, its techniques does not scale with the weapon's accuracy.

Code:
* Initial Damage: 70 Darkness Magic, flags: no_reduc, magic, sk: Bellowing Stag (/obj/skill/bellowing_stag) , wep: null
* play_atk_anim was .
* 152 Evade VS 206 Hit.  (Damage Hit Mod was 0)
*2 Roll(s) Remaining. This one was a miss.
*1 Roll(s) Remaining. This one was a miss.
* Critical check: Defender was critical immune or crit_multi was 0. (70)
* spec_flat_reduc was 0. (70)
* amp_multi was 1.06. (74.2)
* elem_reduc was 1. (73.458)
* Damage evaded; evade_multi was 70. (73.458)

  Unofficial Test Server Guide
Posted by: Snake - 09-16-2021, 02:35 AM - Forum: Guides - Replies (1)

If you're here after understanding how both the Calculator and building works? Sucks to be you! The right spot is this place right here with your only babysitter, Zerg!

But if you're the type who can't wrap your head around the SL2 Calculator for one reason or another (like me!), then fret not. There's still a way to build your character without having to invest hours upon hours of grinding through trial and error in the main server.

You can set up a character in less than five minutes in the second server SL2 has, which is dubbed as the 'Testing Server'.

(Do be wary that this server tends to be always one version or two ahead of the main server, so if there are any experimental or intentional disparities, you should always make sure to be updated when Neus is adjusting something. Another rule of thumb is to not spoil anything there to other people. Just don't.)

So yes. You made a character! Make sure to pick a race you desire to test/build for. The other steps of the tutorial are not really necessary, given the nature of this server. The first thing you should do is clean up your text bar and type the following command.

test-go-to-dev-room

Once done, you'll see that you are now in the debug room. That's pretty much it for this tutorial since from this point onwards everything is more or less self-explanatory, because the rest comes from knowing your verbs. I'll list them below:

test-go-to NPCNameHere
-- This teleports you to any NPC you want. It's always good to keep track of their names. Very useful ones for me personally tend to be the following:
>> Michelle (For upgrading your Torso properly, until max-upgrades is fixed.)
>> Pink (For resetting your race. You can just click the bottom right flame thingy for it!)
>> Zeo (For earning free Murai after obtaining random junk from the test chests)
>> Asha (For the Legend Extension book)

all-youkai-pls
-- This gives you all Youkai currently available in SL2.

level-up-youkai
-- This allows you to set a LV for any Youkai in your possession.

test-all-stamps
-- This gives you all stamps available in SL2, including experimental ones and duplicates. Do be careful, as there is only 1 stamp for STR, SKI, CEL, WIL. 2 stamps for FAI and 3 stamps for VIT. The rest are non-existent/not yet implemented.

test-remove-all-stamps
-- If you are an idiot with the previous verb.

unlock-all-promotions
-- Self-explanatory. They'll all be LV1, though.

test-give-xp
-- This grants combat EXP to you. Just put some random number and brace.

test-inc-craft-xp
-- This grants crafting EXP. Same as above.

chimera-eat-type
-- Can only be used by Chimera, dumbo. It grants a specific mutation from eating things.

amalgama-reroll
-- Can only be used by Amalgama, dumbo. It rerolls all your mutations.

test-max-sentimentality
-- Increases your sentimentality to 100. You'll need to go in a fight and out for this to apply, and obviously, the trait itself.

test-end-battle / end-my-battle
-- Stops combat, no buts.

test-raremetal / test-legend-ink
-- Grants you Raremetal Shards or Legend Inks.

With those out of the way, to modify your weapon or equipment, simply right click them and they will have multiple options.

Do keep in mind that 'max-upgrades' only works for everything but torso for now! (As the value will be incorrect for torso equipment!) You will have to manually upgrade your torso at Michelle Gainer. And make sure to not forget her stamp!

When used wisely, the Testing Server can be a more robust-yet-tiresome method of preparing your future SL2 character. And on top of that! If you ever run over any bugs or errors during it, you can take the chance to report those in the forums, therefore making your time there useful no matter what you're there for. So get to it, ladies!
